Corsair Dominator crapout

.. well this pc just locked up, so I`ll keep it breif this time :p

Got some CRC errors of the pc holding 4x1g Dominator, ran the Vista memory test thing from bootup (which is very handy btw) and it throws out something like "hardware problem detected, contact hardware vendor for support"... that doesn`t help.. cos that`s me :p

Anywho, process of elimination, 1 of the sticks seems to have gone south.

(btw. chucked the faulty stick back in the pc @ 4th slot and pc continues to fold 24/7 fine and game well)

So here`s the options:

RMA Corsair ? Bought from NewEgg, so do I need to return when I go to the states (which "should" be soon), or seek out Corsair in the UK ? (I would imagine NewEgg would be the longer process as they`re 4 months old, dunno, never rma`d ram before)

Other options:

Will possibly buy 2x2g of ram in the meantime, whatever the result of the Corsair incident, I can get rid of it in a new machine for someone or something. Now the thing is the processor is extreme, so I have plenty of multiplier scope ...

Grab 4x1g of stock 5300 (Elpida probably) and just stick it in cos it doesn`t really matter ? or stick to the purchase of 2x2g of "decent" memory - to what benefit ?

Run Memtest on your RAM to doubly check it is the RAM causing the issue.

Run 2 modules at a time, starting with the pair that has the suspected faulty module. :)

I have RMA'd corsair ram before, dominators too. Had 2 bad sets. The 2nd set has been sat here for oooh, a year, gathering dust needing to be sent back.

I didn't bother because I paid like £300 for them when they came out and upon the time of return they retailed for £100 so I thought meh I've already lost £200, whats another £100. (I actually wanted to change them for something equivolent such as ddr3 ;))

THe RMA took just over a month as it has to go to the states.

Just done their RMA thingy, it has to go to the states ? They expecting me to pickup the tab for that ?

If so I`ll post it next month when I`m over there ;)
