Corsair announce 32gb kit for x79 boards

The Dominator 32GB Quad Channel kit (part number CMT32GX3M4X1866C9) will be available later in October with a recommended price tag of $999 (about 727 Euros).

The asking price is too much and performance wise they wouldn't be better than 4GB sticks that cost a fraction of the price

Surely with quad channel you can just use 2 sets of matched dual channel 8GB kits.

16Gb will be more than enough and alot cheaper. Even 2x 4GB kits would be enough.

timings are the same the only difference is £15 for the dominator heatsink. which give me options for watercooling the ram.

i know tom said wc ram is gay. but in the back of my mind im thinking smurf yea thats another two clear waterblocks that i can see mayhems aurora flowing through. im also now thinking about wcing the motherboard aswell. its going to be slick system. so what if my budget is get pushed and pushed. you think michaelangelo scrimped on the budget when he painted the flip out of the sistine chapel. no. the answer is no. this is my sistine chapel and i will plate the thing in vibranium if i get the urge

Since you going all out with your build you might as well cool your RAM even if it's not needed

Being as you can get 4GB sticks for £20, even with a £10 premium for 8GB on the one stick at £50 a stick, that's still very expensive. Unless it's DDR4, then it's justifiable

Aesthetics is a major factor aswell so a chain on fans imo would take away from the design o the components. Things can be done to the max and still be classy. Like im not gonna be uving

yes you could but it may affect the OC as quad kits are just like dual kits each stick is hand picked to work with the others so this mean instead of just having to pick 2 sticks they have to get 4 that work perfectly together. My suggestion is buy the type your mobo supports either dual triple or quad.
