corsair 900d

what do you really think about corsair 900d. my self its ok but don't like the bottom side doors the metal on them is soft very easy to bend that's the only problem I found. so after carefull thinking I wanted some thing more solid.so I went back to my old faithful the cosmos2 I know some of its plastic and you carnt put a 360 rad etc in it but its stronger than the 900d that's my opoinion. corsair should make this case a little more solid especaily the bottom doors .so gone back to cosmos s2.

I think if you want an off the shelf case which accepts tons of hardware and watercooling then it's probably the best case out there. I do think however, that it isn't the best looking case because of how plain and industrial looking it is. I can't comment on the quality as I don't own one, but I've found that generally Corsair cases are of very high quality.

Despite having said that I don't think it's the best looking case, it's probably still the case I would choose if I was going to do another build right now, and I would ram it full of radiators

I love it. So much customisation and space your choices are endless. Yes it is a plain case but what it lacks in looks it makes up for in space and options available.

I think its sturdy enough in general. Granted the lower doors are a little bit flimsy but not bad. The magnetic filters do tend to hit the fans from time to time. However if you want to go crazy with rads ( i put in one 420' 240 and 360) without modifications this is the case. Alternatives like caselabs are more expensive and full custom is more work ( although more fun).
All in all i think it looks great and gives you a lot of space to work with although moving it around is hell.

Without personally owning one (or having seen one in person) I can't say much
about build quality.

Objectively speaking it seems to me to be a pretty decent case, but personally I don't
really like its aesthetics. As long as you don't have any 5.25" devices installed, the
front looks pretty nice I think, but if you want to have something like a fan controller
in there, you'll need to do quite a bit of work to make it look not horrible IMO.

Then again, I think the whole cage assembly at the front should go and be replaced
by the possibility to simply have a large radiator vertically in the front. Or at least
that should be an option.

I'm also not that much of a fan of the bulges on the bottom doors.

What irks me the most about its design though are the case feet. Somehow they
just look... too prominent, like the case is standing on tiny stubby legs.

The same goes for the 350D and the 250D. Interestingly, the proportions of
the 750D somehow mitigate that effect, at least on the pictures I've seen the
case feet don't really bother me on that case, despite being almost identical.

Of course, that's totally subjective, but the overall proportions and the case feet
would probably be the primary reasons why I'd never get a 900D.


EDIT: Leaving Caselabs aside, the case I would be most likely to buy
if I were to do another W/C build right now would probably be the Phanteks
Enthoo Primo, based on the reviews I've seen and read.

don't get me wrong I love the corsair 900d .it is a good case its big etc but the only thing is the hinges on the bottom doors ive had to straighten them when I took the bottom doors off. because when the door shuts on a slant the hinges are bent its there were the metal needs strengthening then when you open them again it took ages for them to close. the magnets I don't like they want to alter them. not much good that's what you get when trying to get the cost down but I do like the case. but coolmaster are stronger like my cosmos2 not bothered about rads etc I only do air cooling with a corsair h100i any way .

Aesthetics are in the eye of the beholder. @ alpenwasser there are a couple of options for radiators up front without modding. You can put up to a 360 up front but it will limit the lower space for other radiators. You can put a 240 either inside or outside.

You bought a 900D to put a h100i in.. really no point in that and then you say your aircooling with a h100i when in fact its a closed loop unit.

Yeah, as I said, my gripes with the aesthetics are purely subjective, I would
never claim otherwise (and despite that, I still consider it a pretty good case
from what I know about it, I'm just not very fond of its looks).

I am aware you can put some rads up front, but ideally I'd like the stock
option to be without 5.25" drives at all (or poossibly just one shallow bay for
a fan controller), with maybe a few struts added in to compensate for the
loss in stability (if there is one). I don't consider the presence of 5.25" bays
a catastrophic fail, but if Corsair were to ask me (yeah, right :lol: ) I'd ask
them to make me one without them.

As for the vertical rad cutting into the bottom rads' space, I won't hold that
against the case; it's just basic geometry, not even Caselabs can get around
that one.

That's the thing with mass market products, you can't please everyone.
I get the decision, and if I were in their shoes I might (maybe) even have
made the same one, it's just not the choice I'd make for my personal use.

And agreed, one solid brushed front plate without any bays and whatnot
would look gorgeous! :wub:

Or maybe a door à la Fractal R4 or Coolermaster Cosmos II would have been
nice (added cost though, obviously).

Well theres on thing i dont have the corsair 900d any more ive gone back to a coolmaster cosmos s2 which i preferer and if you read this from the start it says ive gone back to coolmaster and yes it is each to there own .

Sorry, but why are you spending many hundreds of pounds on incredibly large cases... when you aren't even water cooling, using 2/3 GPU or something like 10 drives? That's even more insane than buying an incredibly overkill PSU, at least that means its more efficient and quieter. I can't speak for the build quality of the 900D, but cooler master have been severely going downhill recently, and the cosmos II is no exception imho.

By all means enjoy your case, but I think you spent your money poorly.
