Cooler Master Hyper N520 or Thermaltake frio? for Intel core i5 2500k ? i like the Thermaltake Jing but thats kinda high in $

according to Thermaltake my case can only fit a 137mm tall cpu cooler and i took a tape measure to it i have 6.5" =165mm and if i take my side fan off i have 7.5"

I don't think i will have more then $55 for a cpu cooler,

just save some more money and get the noctua nh-d14 and this is coming from someone who has a thermaltake frio

Preferably save up and get a Noctua, but since you have a preferred budget of $55, lets talk about your options.

Firstly, the Frio only cools well due to a ridiculously loud fan, so it will be extremely noisy and if you want to slow it down, the cooling will drop dramatically.

But for something that's near your budget I'll probably opt for a Xigmatek Aegir SD128264, from the reviews I've seen it keeps things cool, and it's quieter A LOT quieter than the Frio.

Another heat sink to look at within that price is the Spire Thermax Eclipse II

Noctua is indeed the cooler of choice but really depends on your case/mobo because its a massive cooler and could either not fit in the case or over lap the ram unless your up for modding a box on the side of your case haha

!

$55 dollars should go in the piggy bank and save up for a better one if its not a problem if your upgrading to sandybridge its going to cost you a fair bit anyway so save that extra money!

Scythe Mugen II

It's strange. Sometimes the Mugen II performs really well in reviews, almost delivering identical performance as the megahalems, and in other reviews it's no match for it. Could be the used testbed being more favourable to the Mugen II, as I highly doubt these reviews are biased.

The Thermal**** Jing is worse than the Xigmatek Aegir when it comes to cooling.

Thermal**** have a habit of overlooking some major aspect when it comes to design, when it's quiet it can't cool. When it can cool it sounds like a jack hammer. Also don't buy their mice, they feel cheap, and mine broke after a week.

i have TT mouse and I like the grip and the mouse is mest up either too fast or to slow.

i guess i'll go with the XIGMATEK Aegir unless you have any better ones for the same price

Youll need a better cooler if you want to push the overclocks. Why spend money on the 2500k and then spend so little on a decent cooler? Just makes no sense to me tbh.

I have built PC but i never OCed a cpu before, to tell you the truth i built PC for everyone but not for my slef this will be my first PC that I will build for my self :-x

I will save my $ and then get the Noctua NH-C14, or Noctua NH-D14, but if i can't save how is the Noctua NH-U9B SE2? its the same price as the XIGMATEK Aegir

The D14 is the one to have. The 92mm is old now and the C14 doesnt perform all that well at all.

D14 is the sweet spot dude.
