hi guys i know this might cause a bit of controversy but i was just wondering what coolant to use in my new loop i will be running

1 x Magicool G2 Slim Radiator 16 FPI 360mm
1 x Hardwarelabs black ice nemesis 240gts x flow
1 x evo supremacy cpu block
1 x EK-FC780 GTX Ti - Acetal gpu block
1x D5 vario pump
1 x 150mm tube resivoir
E.K Hard line tubing 10mm id 12mm od
fans are noiseblocker Blacksilent PRO pl-2

im looking at mayhems blueberry pastel and wondered if this would ok
I.E will it clog or not go through the blocks properly

And as always thanks in advance guys

Any coolant you want, they all do the same job. Only the Aurora coolants are not recommended for everyday use. For simplicity, I would choose a premixed non conducting all in one coolant.

If you go for deionised water, make sure you add a corrosion inhibitor and biocide or a kill coil.

Is there a particular reason you cant use Aurora 2 ?? i know like the normal aurora was only for like show jobs !! I have seen people on youtube use it for everyday use or so they say anyway !!

Aurora can be used for long term use how ever your system will not handle it, for aurora to work for a long time you need fast flow, 1 rad, 1 res (tube) d5 pump on fast (or similar), and 1 block.

For a learner user stick to a clear coolant or a premixed solution such as pastel. How ever it would be a good idea to flush your system correctly before using pastel.

Always start simple and learn how to water cool before moving on up.

There is no such thing as none conductive coolants its a myth and simply put as soon as you add coolant to a system it starts picking up mixed metals (that's its job), over a period of time the coolant become conductive. What mainly causes shorts is dust and when liquid touches the dust it helps bridge components causing a short.

Well maybe im biased towards Mayhem, but i have tried a few from Feser, EK, yada yada yada. But Mayhem's pastel series is just amazing. I think I will always recommend Mayhems pastel or clear coolants to others now.

Have always, and will always recommend Feser One in any colour. Had some of that in a rig for 3+ years and never had any issues at all.

I'm just running plain distilled with a kill coil and a few drops of PtNuke. For colours I'm using coloured tubing so I have no experience with any coloured coolant. I have seen some mayhem coolants discolour though, but that's mainly caused by improperly flushed rads.

Longevity isn't a huge concern of mine because realistically no loop stays together without at least finding the time to change coolant for much more than year. I would be happy to use whatever looked the best, be it Pastel, Aurora, Insane dyes or just clear coolant and when it stopped looking good i'd change it out. At Parvum there is a lot of show rigs which have been together for a long long time and used every single day with a huge variety of coolants. While i'm sure they have all lost a little performance they are all still working fine. Both aurora and pastel are treated as zero maintenance and even when properly abused they haven't destroyed all.

Just use whatever you like the look of, particularly if you have acetal blocks and acrylic tubing, you certainly shouldn't be faced with any short term issues :)

Have you guys had much issue with Acrylic tubing and glycol based coolants? I.e. cracking and degradation of the acrylic?

Not at all, tubing is looking great i've seen acrylic tops start to crack underneath the fittings but that's all really. This rig has been together for coming up to 3 years (photo taken at a LAN last month) running pastel white and pastel red, the acrylic tubing and blocks still look good although the red has turned just a little raspberry-ish. Some of the channels through the GPU blocks are getting clogged, just needs a clean is all! It's still working and gaming every day. And I can assure you none of the rads will have been cleaned first, probably a fair bit of acrylic dust and pizza inside the loop too :p

JR i just wondered do you keep all the awesome rigs you build ?

Kind of, some get taken apart, parts sold or re-used. My friend has my original modded 550D with his own hardware. The Rampage and Classifieds went on into αlphaclass and obviously all of that stuff was re-used in αlphaclass 2.0, the 750D was destroyed in the disassembly process. The S2.0 I built JR2.0 has been taken apart, I used the CPU in something else, Kambo has the rad, motherboard sold and nearly everything else went to a friend. Chocolate Box is now my work/LAN rig at Parvum HQ. αclass2.0 is my main rig at home. MATE is being stored at Parvum HQ for it's own safety alongside KRAIT. LIGHTNING is currently my personal ongoing project. APIS will of course be TJ's.

I don't think I will ever bring myself to sell my 780 Classifieds or the Rampage IV, Chocolate Box i'm very attached too as well.

All that hard work you put into your rigs is awesome if i ever even got close to building something like you have i dont think i could ever split it :) ive nearly got all the parts for my 1st watercooled build now and i hope it will come out ok

years ago when i started water cooling, tubing would degrade pretty fast IMO. i found pinholes in them at join points after a few months.. wouldn't leak if powered off but 1st thing you powered on a small stream of water would squirt out.

these days they seem better for some reason. although i cant imagine huge break throughs having happened in the field of acrylic tubing. so id imagine the barbs are better now.

Hi guys im nearly ready to put all my 1st custom loop together and still undecided about the coolant. Im thinking of this http://mayhems.co.uk/store/x1-clear-1ltr.html and also this to make my own blue http://mayhems.co.uk/store/mayhems-none-stain-blue-dye-15ml.html. But i dont really want a kill coil in my reservoir. is there any thing i will have to add to stop a build up algae and such many thanks in advance

Most clear coolants already contain the appropriate biocides and corrosion inhibitors (that one does) so you will be fine without a kill coil.

What do you guys think about using inline filters to capture paticulate in the loop?

if you have that much stuff floating in your loop it will either:
A. clog up your block and prevent flow
B. clog up the filter and prevent flow
C. both of the above
