Coolant spill

Hey guys I would just like to ask if anyone has had experience with this. I was trying to drain my loop and I accidentally turned the pump on before I had the outset set up and coolant went all over my graphics card and a little on the motherboard.

My motherboard and graphics card were not plugged into the power.My question is if drying it out for a coupla days in a Dry cabinet (RH of 45%) will ensure that everything will be dry or if I would still have to worry about any residue left on my components. Has anyone had experience with this issue before? And is chances of saving my components high?

dry it out 100% first and then have a look at the card and mobo. You cant answer the question untill you see the state of affairs after drying mate.

Do you have any rice..

Put the mobo in like a mobo box maybe and surround it in rice, place all that in a dry place for a day or so.

So I am assuming that if i dry things out thoroughly my components would be fine?

Depends, dude, but you won't know until they are dry.

gotta be dry before the electricity is put back through it or the majic smoke leaks

I had a similar issue but mine wasnt pump spray my rad spewed as I was removing it to flush. I got it all over the mobo mainly around the pci-e slots but a little on cpu as well. I air blasted the water off the best I could damped up with kitchen towels and set several fans blowing on it for several hours. (I'm a tad impatient at times) but after like 6 hours of fans blowing on it. I did what I thought was safe and tried it out and woot woot it was fine. Now 6 hours is no where long enough a time and I only recommend it if you feel its dried out. I have been doing this kind of shite for several decades so I went with my gut feeling on it. I was fortunate but if you have a few days to allow it to dry out properly then thats my recommendation. No sense in rushing it if you dont have to.

Dehumidifier would come in handy for sure, "can't believe i spelt that correctly first try, i even googled it to make sure. and i was all like o.0 "

Haha yeah it can be a little difficult to wrap your fingers around them at times. Anyways thanks for all the input guys, i'm really hoping that a thorough dry in my dehumidifier will bring my stuff back to life. Motherboard and graphics card are sitting in the dehumidifier for the past two days and perhaps for the next week or so till I am able to get more tubing and fittings in. I'm just not confident at the moment to plug my components back in for a preliminary test, the thought of a fizzling transistor followed by a pop and a campfire is always at the back of my mind. :huh:

Hey guys, thanks for all the input and support you guys have provided. I just got back and plugged in all my components with fingers crossed and everything booted fine. Ran furmark for about 30 mins and all seems fine. I was running mayhems X1 on it and it actually dried pretty clean, didn't leave behind any residue or powder.
