Constant reboot

:( :(

Hi guys, need help here.

My system starts to resist me. Hehe.

Here's the problem. Everytime it boots up, scan disk always run by itself but I never scheduled it.

Then things are getting worse; not although scan disk always run by itself, now I couldn't log on to Windows. Whenever I click my user name and instead of loading my personal settings, it reboots by itself.

I tried to remove every start up entry from msconfig using safe mode but that didn't help at all.

One more thing. Suddenly boot.ini is gone. So when the system boots up, there appears a message: " Invalid boot.ini. Booting up from C:/Windows". Everytime I make a new boot.ini, it is gone again in a few days.

What should I do now? Any ideas?

Thanks.

What's your overclock at and are you using a SATA hd for your OS?

Sounds like a classic unlocked SATA problem that's corrupted some files from overclocking to far.

Sounds for me ike one of the following :

Virus

Hard Disk Damged

RAM Damaged.

Also very good suggestions... You may try running memtest86 at your overclocked speed to see if it passes a few tests.

Can you stay in long enough in safe mode to run a complete thorough virus scan?

No virus at all. I didn't overclock my system (but planning to) hehe... and no SATA.

I don't think the problem with the memory 'coz I tried to swap it with another memory stick. The problem still exists.

How to detect if the hard drive is faulty? Any particular software to detect it?

Thanks.

Power Supply Specs please. These can be found on the side of you're power supply on a sticker.

Need teh wattage, and amps for +12v; +5v, & +3.3v.

Example

400W PowerIt

+12v/12a +5v/38a +3.3v/27a

Thanks.

It's a very new PSU; Cooler Master 450 Real Power. Few days old. The problem I mentioned has occured even before I changed to this new PSU.

+3.3v = 30A

+5v = 35A

+12v.1 = 18A

+12v.2 = 16A

Well after having a long battle to solve this problem, finally I decided to reformat my hard drive. Before I did that, I make sure that my hard disk and memory don't have any errors. It turned out that all of them are fine. So I continued with reformatting the hard drive.

So far, those symptoms are gone. Hopefully it won't come back.

Cheers

I wonder what the cause was.

Me too. At first I thought the processor is at fault assuming that my hard disk and memory are all fine. So logically, if i do a fresh install then the symptoms should still be there. But now, everything is all gone. Happy!!
