Considering buying the

Intel Core2 Quad 6600 2.4Ghz LGA775

or

AMD Phenom 9650 Socket AM2+ Quad-Core

or

AMD Phenom 9950 Socket AM2+ Quad-Core

But was wondering which is better?

I have seen reviews but some of them just seem biased, I myself enjoy my Intel since I don't have any overheating problems, unlike AMD :(.

Which one out of these CPU's would give me better gaming performance (say for Crysis)

Any help would be really appreciated :).

Thank you!

would most likely say youd be better with a god overlcoking motherbpard and the q6600 the over**** very well.

On the other had I am an intel user and have bee for a while (see sig) but I would like to give AMD platform a whirl personaly I think there will be little in it so personal choice I guess.

At stock, the AMD chips will be roughly the same in real world apps (the 9650 and 9950 will be slightly slower and faster for the most part, respectively).

Overclocked though, and the Intel chips will pull ahead.

Okay, thank you for the tips I'm going for the Intel Q6600

Total =]

£334.64 respectively low priced tbh :D.

  • H60 Series Black ATX Case With 500W PSU

  • Kingston HyperX 2Gb (2x1Gb) DDR2 800MHz Dual Chan Kit

The motherboard, really wouldn't recommend it. Get yourself a P35/P45 chipset..

Done that, whats the reason for this change?

Asrock P45TurboTwins2000 LGA775,DDR2/3,CFire,GBLan,AT

Would this be suitable?

Asrock? You're kidding, LOL

Right, what kind of a budget do you have for the entire lot?

lol, never used Asrock before is it a bad choice? :D, I'm looking for around 350 mark max really :P, got a nice 50" 1080p TV on the ready to be brought at same time :D.

Comps just for gaming on Crysis and Enemy Territory lol.

The next mobo's I see are around £100 not willing to spend much more than already stated :P.

Really?:D, had this one in this 1ghz PC for around 5 years or something now lol, I suppose it's not enough power to make popcorn :D.

nope :S

It'll save you money in the long run, if you buy a descent psu they are MUCH more efficient and stable.

Im guessing thats CAS 5 PC2-6400,

I would reccomend getting a 2gb kit of corsaid 4-4-4-12 timings. good kit.

http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=402849

Also you can get P5Q PRO for 100.

http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=818514

If you get that mobo you could get a PC2-9200 2gb REAPER kit for around the same price of 2gb of 800mhz.

So.

Mobo & Ram

Asus P5Q PRO

OCZ 2GB PC2-9200 CAS5 1150MHz Reaper

Just Ram

2GB Corsair TwinX PC2-6400 CAS4

Not going to upgrade the mobo but the RAM is a must :P.

Corsair TwinX 2Gb DDR2-6400 Memory with Heat Spreader

Since the timings are like you said 4-4-4-12
