Considering a change....

ok so I have a chance to grab a 3930K and Gigabyte GA-X79-UD3 and wondering what the trolls err I mean masses think of it versus my current rig. Those will be the only 2 parts changed out, rest will remain the same.

Current Specs

i7 2600K OC'd 4.5@ 1.36
Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD7
4x4Gb Crucial Ballistic Elites 1866
H.I.S. 7970 Flashed Ghz bios reference design cards (release day cards)
2X Kingston Hyper X 3K 240Gb ssd's in Raid 0
1TB HDD Seagate or WD (changes from time to time lol)
Corsair AX850 psu
custom water cooled via 420mm and 280mm rad sporting 140mm Blue led Spectre Pro's in push pull.
Wrapped neatly in a Switch 810 case (however this will change once Phanteks releases the Enthoo Primo)

Now I know the socket 2011 takes different mounting than 1155 but my block came with the 2011 stuff as well. Also I know the 3930K will run hotter and consume more power, power draw being a non issue with the Enthoo Primo I can add in another 420mm or 28mm rad and most likely will. Rig is mainly for gaming and internet stuff but one never knows if and when the video making bug hits.

anywho whats y'all thoughts on the matter.

You'd effectively just be buying what you already have + 2 more cores.

Not really any extra features that you'd notice any benefit from unless you do do rendering.

Also, I thought the gigabyte X79 boards were pretty bad?

Think of it as 'would I make use of two extra cores/4 threads' rather than do I just want new toys.

Having said that - I barely even game, and just use my PC for general use too - so I definitely don't need my 3960x - so I do understand just wanting something cause it's better :p

thats just it I myself havent seen any compelling things that said 550$ for this would be a good upgrade lol
