computer soaked in cooking oil

Wow that's pretty amazing, just imagine if your temp ever gets high and oil starts boiling you can always use your PC to make some french fries ;)

ohh yess we had this before

ENGLISH SPEAKING FORUM not AMERICAN LAZY_ENGLISH (im soo a hippocrite)

Off topic maybe, but it reminds me of when I worked with Americans, one of the RAF bods put a translation of English/American, as well as the usual, fanny, sidewalk and blacktop there was:

Jeet

This translated to the English:

Have you yet partaken of your lunch?

Thats pretty nutz! Looks really manky though.....

The idea with distilled water sounds good as you'd be able to see the components nicely

The best fluid for submersion cooling is hydrofluoroether (HFE). 3M makes some good ones, most notably HFE-7100 which is the best for computer cooling. It stays VERY VERY cold w/ only a small cooling source. Though it's fairly expensive at roughly $220 / gallon.

I thought about a submersion cooled rig for a LONG time until I said fuck it I don't wanna hassle with it, hehe.

I saw something like this before, and there was a sugestion of another kind of oil you could use, which wouldnt go off like veggy oil, which would start to smell and loot pretty rancid after a time.

Any one have a good knowlege of sythetic oils?

Yes it is extremely expensive, mineral oil will do exactly the same thing...but not quite as effective cooling capabilities.
