Computer sleep/wake issue, really bad!

OK, I've asked this question before but I never really got a definitive answer, so I'll ask again:

My computer will not wake properly after being put into 'sleep' mode. After been put in sleep mode, when I try and wake my PC (either by pressing keys on the keyboard or by pressing the power button) nothing happens. The lights my case fans turn on and the fans start spinning, but the PC won't start again. You have to hold down the power button, turn off the computer, and wait a minute before you can turn in on again. It's so annoying!!

I am running a Asus P8P67 Pro mobo with i5 2500K which is overclocked to 4.5GHz. Could it be due to the fact that I have disabled all the power save settings during the overclocking process? There is a 'EPU' switch on the motherboard which I'm fairly sure controls some sort of power delivery/saving... I have tried it both off and on and it makes no difference....

Can anyone please help me??

EDIT: Yes, I know the logical conclusion is "well just don't sleep your computer then" but I want it all to be working properly and I use the sleep function allot.

I actually have the same issue. I am using the Asus Sabertooth 990fx though. I did stop putting my computer to sleep but it would be nice to be able to use it again I suppose.

This problem is not isolated to P67 boards, it also happens on Z68 boards, and it's not just Asus, it happens on Gigabyte boards. As yet, there is no known fix for the issue, I have the same problem on a P8Z68 pro.

The follwing things will help, but wont make the problem completely go away.

- Not running too many USB devices into the back of the machine. If you do, use a powered USB hub. This decreased the number of instances I saw of the issue from nearly every day to a couple of times a week.

- Disabling PLL overvolting. Several forum posts on other sites suggest this. Didn't change things in my case though.

I got in touch with Asus about my issue, they blamed bad ram, but both sticks pass all night runs of memtest individually. It's not ram because Prime 24 hour blend test runs error free.

Sorry dude.

OK thanks for the help so far guys, my full specs are as follows:

- Asus P8P67 Pro B3 Revision

- Intel i5 2500K @ 4.5GHz (all power saving settings disabled)

- MSI NGTX 570

- Mushkin Redline Ridgeback RAM (2x 4GB) @ 2133MHz

- Corsair GS800 PSU

- Noctua NH-D14

This is a really important issue, and I want to see it fixed. Please spread it around between your knowledgeable peers!!

plot me out ur full specs if ya have a minute to do so.

I quote myself

please list ALL I can live without know what case ya have but hdd/ssd's are important

in a nutshell alot of ssd's dont like to wake from sleep mode hibernation mode so if your running an ssd I now you want it working right and if thats the case lose the ssd (assuming your using one) other than that turn off the bloody hibernate and sleep crap and shut down the comp hibernate can eat up alot of ur ssd space.

oh and turning off something doesnt make it not right. otherwise you'd have to hack it to turn it off its just instructions and alot of a PITA as well

Yeah I suspected it was the SSD in my case.

Lexxikonn, are you using the latest firmware for the drive?

And also, quite importantly, does it come out of sleep at stock settings?

Thanks for the help guys, my computer never came out of sleep at stock settings.

I am using a Crucial M4 64GB SSD, (have never updated software on that) as well as a Seagate Barracuda 1TB (again no updates).

How would I go about updating firmware?

Just need to go to crucial websiteand follow the relevant links. best option if the let you do it a linux based boot disk like ocz drives.not saying it will solve your problem but you need to do it to eliminate it being a potential cause

OK, I updated the firmware of my SSD and well... nothing changed. My computer still won't wake from sleep.

So what now?....
