Computer + Fire = Rebuild

well i just had the day from hell. had to send my tv back my cable box broke, and my computer caught fire. yep after band aiding it together since September 2010 it finally gave out. i knew it was coming but wasn't sure when. now i have to rebuild somehow. im think to avoid problems with repairs i need to do a LGA 2011 (X79) build. i spent all day trying to figure out the best build for for my budget i think i came up with something but its not complete and would like opinions.

ASUS P9X79 PRO LGA 2011 Intel X79

CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

Intel Core i7-3930K Sandy Bridge-E 3.2GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 2011 130W Six-Core Desktop Processor

CORSAIR H100 (CWCH100) Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler

CORSAIR Professional Series Gold AX850 (CMPSU-850AX) 850W 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

those are parts im thinking they good all around parts that can do the gaming and media work i do. i do need a new keyboard and mouse too. my keyboard went down with pc. mouse was still good so gave it to my mom. im thinking the corsair k90 and m90nbe good set or maybe a Logitech Bluetooth set.

i want to find best bang for buck i can get since i only have $200 to put into it each month. saving would be very hard in my situation with no way to get a savings account and the idea of cash in a safe seams risky for theft. im debating buying 1 piece at a time due to these factors.

yeah sometimes ya gotta piece mill it together. I have to as well being a single parent of 2 lil girls with one being autistic. But on to ur build looks like ya got the choices laid down it all looks good to me. I dont see a GPU in there but guessing ur saving that til new stuff is released.

Sucks she went up in smoke and flames though do you know what caused it to go up??

yeah thinking oh a amd 7970 and a 3tb boot drive maybe, but going take so long may be better options in few months. just know this processor, motherboard, cooler, and psu. budget is the biggest limiting factor, so best bang for buck is king.

being as ur on a tight budget. Have ya considered looking at used stuff?? theres a website i sell on alot that normally has pretty decent deals you wont get the latest greatest (sometimes ya can0 but you could build a nice SB setup for about 1/4 less. there was a 2700k up a lil bit ago for 300 shipped not sure if I can link them but if ur interested pm me i'll give ya the link.

Are you rendering things at all? Otherwise it makes more sense to go onto Sandy Bridge,a P67/Z68 gen3 board, a 2600k, say 8GB RAM, an AX850, then say whichever GPU you want. That's probably the best bang for buck on the market atm, Sandy Bridge E is a fair bit more expensive.

I don't think you can exceed 2TB for boot drive.

If you want a backlit mechanical keyboard I would recommend the k90 and if you use macros then that's a bonus too.

If you just want a mechanical keyboard there are much cheaper alternatives but that also depends on which key switches suit your preference.

I would advise SB if money is an issue.

it's a real shame what happened to your old rig

I don't think you can exceed 2TB for boot drive.

According to this you should have no problems booting from a 3TB drive, and as mentioned the X79 plaform is very expensive. A good Gen 3 board and a 2500K should do you fine, and you can overclock the snot out of it if you get a decent cooler.

everyone all over the web say i suck at building pc, and given how muach i spent on it and it still failed in 2 year i figure a 3d laptop out of the box is my best choice, not perfect but just as good if not better then my old pc and portable if i end up going to college to pressure the digital media degree with options in adobe master

thes laptops have the avandge of being beter then pc that broke but also moble. im just shy of my back breaking down till im paralized. the mobilty will be very nice for when my physical condition gets worse.

I got mine build by Aria, just made sure everything was compatible by asking around. Mainly I was scared to build and overclock my own. It's a 2500K clocked to 4.5Ghz all done by Aria. Good customer service that put up with my constant questions XD.

Cheaper to build a powerful PC rather the laptop.

Best of luck

well i Frankensteined the pc to working for now. 6 dead computers got me a working desktop. least i know my system is working. id like some advice how to build it to being stable.

i want to run a single monitor with lots vram for eye candy and multimedia creation. i think my best bet will be a z77 ivy bridge motherboard with m sata for caching. im considering a corsair gold power supply. as for media im looking at hauppauge's Colossus and the WinTV-HVR-2250.

my gaming is simple in comparison, i wont be overclocking. what i need is a media pc with ability to play few simple games in eye candy mode as i call it. basically ill use my tv for a monitor running a 1080 resolution. i just want a card i can to all setting to thee max. that's why im thinking of a radeon 7970 3gb pice 3.0 card.

so to my question how much power do u think i will need to run 4 3tb hard drives, a 2 tb drive with msata, a single 7970, hauppauge's Colossus and the WinTV-HVR-2250. also are there any msata pcie 3.0 boards on the market or should i just wait for the z77 format.

this is kind of cool i just got my p55 ftw 200 fully functional again a jumper was partly busted with it fixed mobo cpu working perfectly now. also opened up my psu ich was busted anyways and stabilized it. so now my issues seam to be limited to my gpu and ram which are easy fixes. also keyboard mouse and speakers.
