Comp powers itself off and back on

My Pc is acting weird. It will, out of nowhere just shut down and restart. does it about 2 or 3 times a day, started maybe a week ago. WTF? Any Ideas? I do not have any viruses that I can find, Have used NOD32, Registry Mechanic full version, and AVG full version, everything looks clean and as for the temp, she is well ventilated.

Is this maybe the CPU giving up the ghost? Just finished backing everything up off the PC just in case.

Does it Blue Screen? Have you had a look in the event log to see if anything jumps out at you. Has Windows done an update recently? Any new hardware or drivers updated?

No, no blue screen or any pop up warnings and the such.

Not overclocked

No pets in the house

As far as any new updates, not that I can think of, I have automatic updates turned off.

Have not looked at an event log, will try that next time it happens.

It never happens while I am actually on it working, but sometimes If I go away and come back it will have restarted,

Not every time, just totally random. Yesterday Had it on all day and no problems, day before it restarted twice, same the day before that, 3 times once.

its not like its unusable or anything, just makes me nervous.

is this the computer you won. Send Tom a e-mail and see what he says. Also if you have another hard drive with windows on it switch out the one which is plunged in at the min and see if it's the operating system. It could also be the 2 pin power connector or the restart connector.

Happened to me, RMA the power supply. Likely a dud and has rapidly degraded since you bought it and gone to seed

I have another PSU in the garage in an even older scrap PC. If it keeps up I may try swapping it out and see what happens.
