I sort of only discovered this a few weeks ago, and initially couldnt use it, but when i reformatted yesterday, i enabled it and now my eyes have djusted and it just looks soo much nicer and its easier on the eyes.

So im curious to see those of you with TFT/LCD screens, do you use cleartype?

if you dont know what it is..

right click desktop > properties > appearance > effects > "use the following method to smooth screen fonts"

yea i thought that intially kemp, but when i enabled it straight from a reformat, it seemed much nicer for soem reason

^ Ditto - especially on a CRT it looks very blurred.

Wasn't this originally for Laptop displays (before they went 15"+), to make them easier to read?

I don't use it... It makes the text look blurry and harder to read (on an LCD at least).

I like the nice crisp edges that I get when it's turned off.

lmao im the only one who has never heard of it lol.. im embarassed

ClearType is a Windows feature which "softens" the edges of text on the screen. IMO it seems to look best on CRT's, it always seemed fuzzy/blurry on my TFTs.

Ìf you want to get to it:

Right click on Desktop > Properties > Appearance > Effects

Put a tick in the 2nd box and select 'Clear type' from the drop down menu, you also have a few different effect to play with here....

I just enabled it on my phone today and I must say the text looks better on the tiny LCD. I think I'll keep it on :)

It's an odd lil thing, I showed some people at work the clear type and they can bearly notice the difference? But I rekon it makes text look so much nicer and smooth, I don't turn it on at work cuz I keep effects to the minimum to save resources on those crappy things :banghead:

Got it on now

Getting used to it

LOL @ ur work

I have a half decent Dell at work (2.8GHz with HT and 512mb RAM) so thats not really a problem :)
