Chipset Cooling

stocky

My P5B chipset is getting rather toasty, so much so that it is holding me back. Does anyone know of a good/ the best air cooler (passive? heatpipe?) product?

Maybe it'd better to just watercool it? If so, what chipset cooler is the one to have?

(I'm running big bore ;) )

I`m using the Zalman blue HS thingy. Doesnt seem to be holding me back?

Anythings better than the stock efort :-p

Get some sort of passive cooler, bigger the better really. The stock effort is poor and has rubbish contact with rubbish thermal paste most of the time anyway.

There was that swiftech chipset cooler, not sure if you can still buy it, but that was always quite good, and you could stick a 40mm fan on for serious benching.

Microcool do some good ones as well i think.

Looks about as much use as a chocolate teapot!

Don't seem to have much/any problem with overheating on the vanilla board, it's using a "proper" chipset cooler though, and none of the pointless heatpipe crap :p

New cooler should work wonders for your FSB (and let you pump up MCH voltage ;))

Yeah, it's coloured aluminium from what i have heard, heatpipe has almost nothing in it, paste is rubbish, so all in all a new cooler should really help :)

WEY! :D

That's the kinda responses I was looking for! :)

What I'll do is I'll monitor the chipset now and get some temps idle and load, then same again with the new one ;)

Anyone know of a windows based chipset temp watcher? Does MBM cover it?
