Cheap case cooling mod

Hi people ive just stumbled across a good and effective way of helping to keep internals of the computer nice and cool. All you need is a 120mm case fan and a old cpu cooler (im using an asaka cpu cooler) thats approx 80mm wide. What you do is with the old CPU cooling fan remove the heatsink so that all that remains is the fan. Get 4 self tapping fan screws and create new threads in the cooling fan. You can then mount it to the front or use it as an exhaust fan. It spins at 2000rpm constant so provides decent airflow.

I will put pics up tonite for reference:eek:

For the 120mm case fan mod you will need a 120mm fan, a few zip ties and 3 5.25" drive bays free. Put the zip ties through the screw holes to make a loop (do this in all four corners) and then on the front of your case remove the plastic protectors from the 5.25" bays and zip tie the fan to the sides in all four corners. The fan should now be stable and help supply vital air to the internal components. For even better looks though you could just cover the gap with high flow modders mesh.

The end result doesnt look to bad. Look at bottom picture for end results.

Please leave comments on what you think. If you need any help please leave a comment and i will get back to you as soon as i can.

Cheers people

ye same principles jus a cheaper way of doing it. Saves you £15 so im laughing. Thanks for the comment tho zzhang. any other useful info or handy case mods?

you can use 2 80mm in the same sort of config too.

its a getto mod :)

maybe use a fan which posts up the temp and messages on the blades. now that would be cool :)

cheers mate. there is a kit you can buy for £15 from aqua-pcs.com but why pay £15 wen it could cost you £1 for zip ties!

some black mesh would complete it nicely.

As said juust get some modderr mesh, I have near enough the exact same stuff they use on those lian li bezels, the AC Ryan Alu stuff, and if you had the right tools to make nice 90o bends and you fitted that 120mm fan, it would look good, good cheap mod, but still not overly sure what you done with the old CPU cooler...
