Changing NH-D14 Fans

Hi guys

I've been tempted to change the NH-D14 fans for a while just so I could get some black fans in there to match the rest of the rig but not too sure which ones I should go for

Ideally I'd like them to be black or black/white, I'm considering getting some gentle typhoons & cutting the tunnels out them so I can clip them onto the cooler but wasn't sure if theres any other good options out there that I wouldn't have to modify ?

Also would these fan clips work ok for mounting the new fans?

the fan clips are designed to fit any 120mm fan

Yeh thought so but just had to make sure lol

I would rather leave the original ones in place incase I ever sell it or something, Any recommendations for fans ? prefferably black

I used CM Sickle Flows when I damaged my Noctua fans trying to take them apart to paint worked well for me

Awesome, are they as good as the noctua fans ?

EDIT: I can only find black ones wiht coloured LED's, would it be possible to remove or disable them easily ?

Thanks man, will deffo check out some other fans tho. Think I might give the akasa apache's a go on it and see what comes of it

I have to re-vamp this thread with one question. I would like to swap Noctua fans on NH-D14 with Corsair AF120 and Corsair AF140. Does anyone know will it fit? I think 120 fan should be no problem, but what about 140 fan for in between towers?

Re-vamp? Well performance will go down... aesthetics goes up. Plus the AF fans are not even proper static fans.. Need the SP fans in order for any performance increase which i doubt you will see. They don't make the SP140 yet so really no point in getting extra fans. Would have been better off spending money on a h100i instead of a NH-D14 + fans.

that's a downgrade. the noctua fans are amazing and AF fans are not designed for heatsinks

The middle fan on the NH-D14 is actually 120mm too - just the fan itself is bigger.

The clips used are the same for both the NF-P12 and the NF-P14.

I changed the fans on mine to Silverstone AP121s on a few builds:

It can be done with the SP120s, but performance will probably drop a little. Also it will be very fiddly putting the clips on the SP120s due to the rubber screw holes being slightly thicker than ordinary fans.

I thought about Corsair H100, but I am not sure if it will fit. I have CM Sniper with the stock 200 fan at the top, but as you can see on a photo, it can be swapped for two 120mm fans or 120x240mm radiator. I am just not sure about thickness, since there is around 400mm from the top of the case to the MB. Maybe if fans go over the motherboard I could get a couple more millimeters until it gets to RAM slots.

Anyway, I have a plan to mod the case, and fit new parts inside with only blue and black color theme, so Noctua, despite it's performances will ruin color theme. I thought to either swap Noctua fans for some blue LED fans, or get Corsair H100 but I am not sure if it will fit.

Btw, Silverstone AP121s look sweet! :)

i have a pair of af 120s quiet edition led on my nh d-14 after months of umming and ahhing about which fans to use to replace(due to mainly the noctuas colours) i went with the af 120s. I know not the sp ones but i didnt research it enough bbut it was an experiment. Well really suprised iv got them running at around 1050 rpm not the full 1500 there just as quiet run cooler at stock an full load with prime 95. My 2600k @ 4.3 w 1.27v is around 24/26 degrees idle from 28/30 and at load around 50 where before it went around 60/65.
