Changing my GPU

Or he could end up returning a completely different card and keeping your one.

And this is why I never sell things on Ebay any more. Last time I sold a phone the buyer waited two months then started saying he did not authorise the payment. Paypal took the money back and nearly sent me overdrawn before giving it back to me after I proved I shipped it with a tracking number.

Had I not had that tracking number? now I know why he waited two months. Total scammer.

I've bought three (admittedly old) GPUs from Ebay all of them had been baked.

Now I just buy new things.

That could happen but i should know if it's mine cause the person was complaining to begin with about the PCB asking me if its been under water & marks over the silver bits but you could be right but that is why i haven't refund the money yet cause i want to see where i stand with this i could be down as much as $950.00, I kinda know where i stand i'm screwed either way.

I just got the GTX970 everything matches up like the serial number.
So the only thing i can do now is starting testing myself and see what happens then if anything happens i will have to send it back to PC Case Gear.

Update

I have now installed the GPU into my system and it's powering on fine, i'm going to be running some GPU stress tests to check frame rate, I'm starting to think the buyer is full of BS and they just simply didn't like it.
There is a lot of sag tho so maybe i need to buy a custom backplate for it to help with the sag.

Hey mate,

TBH I think it was more buyers remorse... you should have told the buyer to foot the return postage and claim it back through PayPal as PayPal will now credit buyers for return postage costs.

OR it could be a crooked buyer that bought the card as a temporary stop gap after finding out that eBay Money Back Guarantee makes the seller responsible for return postage costs so they wouldnt lose out on anything.

OR bear with me here the guy is even more of an arse and is going to get PayPal to credit the return postage after you give him the monies for the postage.

Either way the guys either a scumbag or douche.

Really feel for you mate. Ive been fortunate enough to not have any of these idiots cept for 1 in the past 4 years.

One thing though, I may have missed it. Did the buyer open a case via eBay or PayPal? Guessing eBay?

As for the GPU sagging, if you dont care much for looks then chain up some zipties, it costs way too much to get a backplate not to mention custom into AU for it to be worth it.

The buyer open it through ebay, Also the buyer is very pushy too. the buyer email me saying "hello? still waiting for refund", I think i have every right to test the GPU first, Either way the buyer will get the refund, people like that can't wait they want the refund straight away.
I have run my stress test and i pass didn't crash, been playing games like Team Fortress 2 & ETS 2 both games have been smooth normal FPS spikes when playing the game more so with TF2, I know there not very GPU heavy, I playing with modded ETS2 tho.

So frustrating for you. Doesn't sound like anything's wrong with the card and the guy is just a ....

Make him wait.

Paypal has put the money on hold atm but i did send the buyer a message that they will have their money back bye 7:00pm AEDT cause i haven't finished my testing as of yet.

I'm to the point now i think i might just starting listing PC parts on here and everything else on ebay.

It's a woman i should have said that to begin with

Wouldnt be the best idea to of an unstable buyer, if you accidentally waited too long and they escalated then it would count as a defect on your seller account.

OP just dont refund them the return postage and tell them to get a credit from PayPal. As it isnt fair to you. Any sane/xreasonable buyer would comply.

And there I go being sexist. Oh well the word I was thinking of still suits ;)

I'm sure Gumtree and the like all have the same issues as ebay.

edit - @Kushiro - yeah fair enough.

Yeah the only downside of this forum is that it's UK based so FS&W is pretty limited due to shipping costs. I'm sure Gumtree and the like all have the same issues as ebay.

Maybe i should contact ebay and see what they say, btw the person had the GPU for a month before opening a return case.

The money is on hold in my PayPal account and i think today is the day when they are going to get the refund (7th of January)

As in it was after it was delivered to the buyer? Or do you mean the date of purchase/payment?

Well if the item was delivered more than 30 days prior to the buyer opening the case, then you have grounds for rejecting the claim. Assuming of course you didnt accept it officially via eBay. That way if thr buyer opens a case through PayPal and PayPal sides with the buyer you can contact the FOS on the grounds of depreciation and an unwarranted return. You will eend up being reimbursed by PayPal regardless. Though doing this will PayPal off and not put you in a good light with eBay  so better not given the value of the card.

Nice, wo gotta protect our secrets and of course our own backsides from the mods ; )

The person complain about the solder points on top of the card being a different colour i did a google search and found out the colour is right it does have a brown/copper tint to them.
