so whats everyone thought on Origin PC new case??

the Case

My personal opinion is its to bad that you can't get one with out getting a computer from them. I know i'd be getting one if they did sell them on there own

Take my money!

I love the idea. Same principle years ago before modding took off when I fell in love with the Alienware cases. PC components were crap. All I wanted was the case.

Gah Its a shame Origin are as bad as Alienware and don't sell any of their cases just on their own. Just give it a few years and you can get one off ebay for a stupidly high price :3.

Damn good strategy though, "Want our case ? Well first you have to pay at at least 50% on top".
I emailed Alienware in November and asked if they would sell their top case on it's own, I got the shortest answer I think I've ever gotten from any customer service, "No" lol

I got mine from ebay for the princely sum of £112. It came with a 1kw dell powersupply and a faulty front panel. I've repaired the door and since sold it as a) no cable management and b) no decent rad support. They can be ovens as well but thats due to the way the fans work.

Well after seeing the Corsair 540 in the flesh my friends Alienware aurora case seemed like a cheap plastic heap in comparison ^_^

It is a plastic pile o crap :P and you're still in love with it I see :P.

No no no no, Before I saw the 540 I was looking at getting the Alienware Aurora case, I asked Dell and after that I saw the 540 at a LAN event and went weak at the knees ^_^

I actually think it's a bit stupid of them to not sell it on its own.

People who buy pre-built systems are people who have the money but don't have the knowledge/don't want to risk building their own. I don't really see the point in having a case that's able to change the motherboard to 4 different locations and then being sold to people who don't want to actually use that feature themselves.

Just seems like wasted R&D - even more so when the people who get the most excited about this (ie - all you people that are always going to build your own PCs) will never be able to get your hands on this case.

Hopefully a company like Silverstone will be able to produce something like this themselves.

I meant still in love with the 540 ^_^. I'm a bit sleepy today haha. Don't worry, the aurora is a pain in the arse to work with and you've made the right choice.

Very good logic :)

I think even if Silverstone did build a case there is the whole design of Alienware that a lot of people like and want.

I do know though that Alienware/Dell have been asked many times and the response is always one of 2 things "If there is enough demand for it then we will sell it on it's own" or the more commonly used one "No".

Personally I think their marketing department is made up of people that really don't know diddly squat about the people they're selling to and the enthusiast community which might I add is growing quite quickly.

They only really give the end user a hand full of options and all start off as damn expensive and go all the way up to "Oh no you didn't".

Hells yeah, The 540 is like a cube of awesomeness that no Dell creation can top ^_^
