Ummm... well I'm doing OK I guess... but anything over 3Ghz seems to be unstable. Even 3Ghz gave me 2 reboots when I just booted windows, although both times it happend right when I tried OC' ing further, failed, then put it back on 3Ghz and tried booting for the first time. (although It passed a 6 hour stress test???) The second time I tried booting I had no problems though. I tried setting it to 3,08 Ghz but it was unstable so I kept raising the vcor till I hit 1,36 which is the max it can handle according to Intel's website but it still wasn't stable so I gave up untill I figure out how to get further

yeah unfortunately u might have hit its limit mate if you get a chance see if you can pick up a q6600 g0 they go for about £80-90 here in the uk and u might be able to do a swap with cash

Yeah I dont have the money right now and I'm saving up for a new GPU + Monitor. Pretty happy with the 3 Ghz for now so I think I'll keep it at that.

As I explained in your thread. OC'ing the CPU is a balancing act that requires a methodical testing regime for long term stability. Maxing out Vcore and trusting the boards Auto setting to adjust Vtt, PLL, MCH and ICH Core accordingly might be a tough ask. Unless you have a crappy CPU then a 700MHz OC should be an easy 24/7 proposition.

About the overclocking:

I'm quite an overclocking n00b, I admit.

I've got my current Q9300 (standard:2.5) overclocked to 3.0. This aint a very big difference, but the performance is noticable better. I was quite limited in overclocking (multi=6/6.5/7/7.5), but ill try to get it up to about 3.2 GHz
