CES 2012 NZXT 810

Congrats Raven!!!

SeiB, in all honesty I didn't even notice the motherboard. I saw the pic and it didn't register. I read the text and you said you had a broken motherboard, so I thought "did he really install his broken motherboard just to see what it looked like... Oh wait, what is... I don't even." That is the definition of a clean install, can't even see the motherboard.

I'll give you guys my first impressions on tuesday(can't WAIT!!!)

Thanks TO DPD (basically they mess out my order, they send it to bristol instead of birmingham) and case should arrive today morning(yes today is already 12oclock
biggrin.gif
) I will post some pics if I will have a time for this. Hope so!

I got the case this morning, but I had no time to post any picture, and even make one(becouse of work).

I really like the design

And is huge compare to my raven rv03.

I will post more picture when I finish my build

was there anything in particular ya wanted to know about it??? Had mine going on 3 weeks now kinda know it inside out now.

Well there are a couple of questions.

The first one was if you install a 480 rad does it effect the front I/O panel?

I just read your build thread so I know about the cutting of the case to achieve the 480.

My ultimate plan is to have a 480 and a 280 in the case for a ivy bridge not sure which one and then at the beginning I will have a single 7970 or one of the new nvidia cards. But i will be adding a second gpu when I feel like I would benefit from it.

I just had a crazy thought, right now you have your hot swap hdd dock in there correct? Are dvd roms hot swap able? If so cant you just leave the sata interface for the hot swap drives and just slide your optical drive in and out? Or is the hot swap bay not big enough to accept a optical drive?

no it doesnt affect the i/o at all as the i/o is actually outside the case under the front plastic oh and dont get a 480 thats 4x120mm rad you want a 420 which is 3x140mm rad the case isnt long enough for 4x120mm

I took the how swap out as I needed a spot for my fan controller. and no the optical bay while physically the same as a hdd in respect to power and data hook ups wil not sit in it correctly it'll protrude out the front farther than anything else. You might try it I didnt because of my dual bay rez and fan controller I went optical drive less. If you use a 360mm rad you can put a fan controller on top and try the optical in the hot swap as i did but I removed the hot swap part of it.

When are you considering getting one?? Reason i ask is if my Pastel Fluid shows up when i'm off next week (Tuesday to Tuesday the following week) I intend on draining the loop to do a review on the pastel fluid for Mick. I'll remove my fan controller and put the hot swap back in and test it out for ya.

Well like I said earlier it will be a little while longer till I start building it. First I have to wait for the ivy bridge to come out and if it is not to much longer after that for the nvidia 600 series then I will be waiting till april to finally getting it all complete.

That would be great if you could test it out! How does the hot swap bay install is it just a little plate on the back of the bay or is it a whole bay insert? Reason I ask is can you put your fan controller in the bay with the hot swap still installed? Or must you remove it?

I will be going with a res and pump combo so it will take up 2 of the optical bays, which I am not sure how I feel about that. Currently I rarely use my optical bay but when I do need it I would rather have it already installed and not have to re-install it. I may just have to get an external usb 3 drive.

Did you install a dust filter of any kind in the top of the case? I am trying to figure out how I can do it. Just hard to without the case being here.

One more quick question. How quite is the case stock just on air? Can you tell a difference between running air cooled vrs water? I do not care much about the sound just curious. Im going with water for the performance and if it is quieter then that is just a bonus.

Thanks for all the help!

well I removed it at first to put in my optical drive and never put it back I would assume it could stay for just a fan controller in there. Those are not as big as an optical drive. there is a plate at the back and a sliding tray to mount the drive in. you put an idea in my head I'm going to see if I can mount the hdd in my fan controllers housing and make the bay functional for a hdd

This is probably the route I'm going to go as well.

I havent approached that aspect yet. I'll most likely put filters on the top of the fans. As they are exhausting I think the only time dust will enter thru thee top is when shes off.

The stock fans are surprisingly quiet for their rated Db iirc their listed as 26Db but I think thats off by at least 5-6 Db with a 420mm rad you'll not have to turn them up much for good cooling I have mine at low speed and I cant hear them and my cpu is at 29c

If this works then you could remove the other hdd tray unless you have your ssd's in there and use that area for an added rad maybe. Man this case is sick the mods are almost endless.

This is probably the route I'm going to go as well.

My link This is what I probably will go with.

What fans are you running currently? 140*25. Also what RPM?

Thats pretty dang good. I have started looking into what fans I want to get but nowadays there are so many to choose fun you get lost at times. You or anyone else have some recommendations?

I run an SSD raid so the lower cage is staying. I have been toying with using my external 1Tb drive in the hot swap bay (removed from external enclosure of course) if I can a way to mod my fan controller to either fit the upper 5.25 bay (not likely as you cant put in the rail supports with a 420mm rad) or like I mentioned before seeing if I can mod the fan controllers base to accept a hdd and make it work in the swap bay. I'm using these fans I know there not the best at static pressure but since I went push/pull I didnt think overall static pressure was of major importance. Plus I got tired of looking at fans lmao. I was originally going to use Bitfenix Spectre Pro's for the rads as i won 3 in their Nov 2011 contest but seeing as I cant get them to send then to me I said screw it and went another route. I think it would of looked bad-ass for lighting but I'm happy with how it turned out with the light strip from NZXT. As far as the optical external drive thats more than i need I dont watch movies on my pc so a blue ray player isnt needed. But I do want some kind of external DVD/CD Burner another option is to mount my programs and games on the 1TB and use it as my source for loading things. Would work with stuff I currently have but new stuff would have to be done differently. Most likely keep the 1TB external so i can bounce it back and forth from main to back-up and mount it with backup. Then all that said would be alot easier to just buy a external optical drive and be done with it lmao. Such is how my mind rolls lol

I am glad you said something about the raid set up. I just ordered 2 120 gig corsair force gts and was planning on Velcro'ing them to back behind the mobo. Is there room for that or is it not recommended to do that? I know it damages hdd.

Let me know if you figure anything else out about the fan controller.

As far as the external bd dvd goes, I travel some for work and there are times that I like to watch movies and well I love blu rays but my work laptop does not have a blu ray drive... So I will be pulling that along with me =).

How come they wont send you what you won? hmm that might change my mind from buying from them. Fans are probably the most boring piece of equipment for a rig to look at lol.
