CES 2012 NZXT 810

Hmm I know this is a good watercooler, but how do you guys see this for air cooling? The rotatable fan thingy seems cool, but not actually sure how good the case is for overall airflow. Also, do you think NZXT will do that B.S where they make their fan mounts only fit their own fans (like what they did with the Phantom). Ima sucker for white cases and this thing looks really nice. Ima probly sell my Phantom somewhere and try to get this

It's just as good for air flow as it is for water.

You can have two fans in the front either 140 or 120mm, a fan on each of the HDD cages either a 120 or 140mm directing air flow over the GPU and towards the CPU heatsink, a 140 or 120mm in the back and up to 3 140 or 120mm fans in the roof, oh and one in the bottom of the case.

So yeah, I don't see any problems with air flow, especially with the two extra fans on the HDD cages. Also any fans will fit not just NZXT ones.

that problem of fitting only their fans iirc was in the phantom range and only on the front 200mm fan 120's and 140's were standard

but this case is hybrid being good for water and air. I saw somewhere while drooling on errr I mean reading reviews a temp test comparison between other cases and it did quite well. I'll see if I can locate it again, but dont hold breath lmao I have read so many reviews and vids.

The review I posted earlier in this thread from Vortez shows temp results of this case compared to other cases, that will give you an idea of how good the airflow is.

There is this one from Hexus as well.

Very interesting are 800D temps, cuz as I know, this case suffers with air flow. So this temp table is not really accurate. Anyway Switch have really good air flow.

I have a question actually, with the hot swap bay, is it possible to remove the connectors at the back where the HDD/SSD would connect? I would rather use that bay for a fan controller or a drivebay res to be honest.

Absolutely, just undue the two screws to the left of the molex and the two screws on the right under the thumb screws, the entire plate comes right out.

Thanks for letting me know, I thought it could be done but I just wanted to make sure before I start buying things for when I get the case.

well since your answering questions I wont go easy on ya like Sieb did. The fan block on the back of the case allows for 7 fans to be attached (great idea by the way love it) But without fan control its kinda useless for us quiet PC freaks. Now here is the question. if I make a connector I.E. a 3pin to molex and run it from a fan controller to power the block would that work??

Basically full power will come from psu to fan controller. I'd use one of the fan controls and make a 3pin female to molex power male connector. so the power goes first thru the fan controller then out to block. In theory it should work but not sure if the block can handle the changes?? The Fan controller in question is one of y'alls NZXT Sentry Mesh 5 channel 30watt controllers. By the way I love this little controller its been great. .

Yes that will work, you may want to consider switching the Mesh for the Mix, the finish on the Mix is the exact same used for the trim on the Switch 810. It also supports 50w so it may give the 7 fans a bit more power.

As for TTL's review I believe that is up to NZXT Europe to handle, I will suggest they send one.

Thanks Retell I'll look at the Mix but I already own the Mesh lol I got it for my 932 which had mesh front panels lol. But yeah I'll look into it for sure.Plus I think 50w is better overall for keeping it under load than 30w

Man I cant wait til Wednesday and she arrives lol

awe man The Mix only comes in Black
sad.gif
goota do some thinking on it now lol

Im just wondering about the noise when on air, how audible is this case?

Read the heuxus review and they measure the noise above 40 decibels.

Is this case really that noisy?

Case looks great but im looking for quiet, med-high airfrlow case.

I expect a full review! Haha

Might be buying a new system in a few months, haven't decided on the case yet but the Switch could be a serious contender! It has to take on the Corsair 650d though..

I'll let ya know tonight I'll hook up a psu to just the included fans and give my thoughts. But the fans were going to be changed out with Bitfenix Spectere fans as I won some in a contest and was going to buy more to round it out. That contest was in Nov 2011 but just got word from them I'm going to have to wait another 2-4 weeks before I get my prize. Not sure how unhappy with that news I am. I am also debating just putting all 140mm NZXT fans in. Might be the way to go now with my disappointment. Anywho I'll let ya know tonight about the fan noise.

I will do the best I can

most of my new parts are arriving on different days so It'll be drawn out.

As far as decibel level's I do not have a meter, however I fall asleep comfortable with the system running in my room with 6 fans.

there quiet imho but dont seem to move a ton of air but I'm still playing around with it lol. I ran them at 12v straight ti the psu and on my fan controller. My sickle flows make a lil more noise I'll check the other fans also and see. but for now I dont think there rad capable fans. But again I'm still muckin about with it.
