Certain Sapphire HD 5770 Models Are "Crippled"

Ouch.

For a second there I thought I as doomed. This was what I was going to buy in the future and to find out that there were issues just scared me. You never know which batch your card comes from until you get it. :|

How long have you been going on about imaginary upgrades?

Anyway, this issue has been known for a few days, Sapphire have issued a fix, its very unlikely you'll get one of the affected cards. Nothing at all to worry about.

most people probs wont even notice there only running the 720 sp's, very amateur mistake from sapphire.

wow talk about mal-practice :) where's rasta to give ati a bashing on this 1?? :D

Well it seems it was a simple oversight and the problem has already been dealt with. Good stuff from Sapphire for being upfront about it any offering a fix. I don't think every manufacturer would do that.

What makes u think I'd do that :p Although I do accept the absolute fact that if it were Sapphire botching another camp's card, the camp would be in ALL of the headlines pointing directly at them for a MASSIVE mess up of spectacular proportions.

Sapphire probably working on something and miss located a bios revision in-house. This kinda thing happens with mobo bioses all the time. Gain something with 1 upd8, then mysteriously it's gone on the next upd8, then a quick one comes out to make good. Not exactly anything AMD can do about that.

Sapphire have made good almost immediately on the low release of these cards. What would concern me is if any cards got messed up during the bios upd8.
