Ok so maybe I lied a little bit in the title, but... Anyhow my dad brings home a freakin' old arse Compaq Presario today and says "some guy at work wanted me to give this to you and tell him how much it would be to turn it in to a low-end gaming rig on the cheap side." I was like wth might as well at least look at it. After spending 10 minutes trying to figure out how to get the case apart I finally got inside to look at the goods (well, goods might be overexagerating just a tiny bit). The first thing I noticed once I got the case off was that I was dead in the water looking at a doomed 500mhz Slot-A Athlon, bleh! Obviously nothing I can do about that, Slot-A was retarded... Look down to the first slot, an AGP 2x slot, to find a nice lil gem, a 3dfx Voodoo3 1000 w/ 16mb of SGRAM, w00t! lol. Ok so yeah, this guy is a moron, he gave me a comp from '99 and wanted me to do something with it. I'm going to send it back to him w/ a note that says email me for a quote on a cheap new computer.

I might have been able to help it out a bit if it was at least Socket A instead of Slot A but I didn't get that lucky on this one. I think the highest Slot A Athlon was 750mhz wasn't it? There's no point in spending the time tracking one down when you won't even see a noticable difference. I suppose I could pop in a 750, put in 512-1gb of RAM, and maybe find a higher end Voodoo for it but it still wouldn't play games for shit, lol.
