Card decision

Looking at the Sapphire R9 390 Nitro 8GB or the ASUS GTX 970 Turbo.

The ASUS would look good in my build plan do to the white shroud. Nitro would be ok as well although not white.

Its going into a gaming rig primarily with some light video watching and such. No rendering of any kind.

Thoughts are welcome, thanks in advance.

This is tough as both are good cards but if the Asus will look better go with it providing they are about the same price

The 390 has my vote. The Sapphire is more than capable of keeping the card cool provided that airflow is decent.

The Nitro is pretty quiet too. iirc it was one of the quietest coolers on the market for that amount of performance. Both cards are very good, however the extra vram and good cooler on the 390 would get my vote considering performance is the same (roughly 5% difference depending on games but generally equal). I understand at 1080p vram of 8GB is overkill but bumping it up to 1440p and the way games are moving towards having extra vram will always be useful
