Hi, Can someone please advise me if I can run two GTX590's in Quad SLI on my Crosshair Formula V motherboard please, my rig is made as follows:-

Coolermaster haf x case
Crosshair v mobo 1503 bios
fx6200 cpu
silver power SP-S850M psu
corsair vengeance DDR3 ram @1600Mhz 16Gb
samsung blu-ray reader/dvd burner
kingston hyper x sdd 120Gb
western digital 1Tb HDD
alphacool GPU waterblock x2
alphacool CPU waterblock
360 radiator
240 radiator
pump
dual bay xspc reservoir
Windows7 pro 64bit

I have asked Nvidia and they have recommended at least 1100w PSU
Can anyone help me please?

Yeah, an 850w won't be good enough for two 590s.
And, as above, it would be a COMPLETE waste of money, time, energy etc. anyway.

Have you tested each of the cards by themselves? What happens with both cards in the PC? Does it boot at all? 850w is a little on the lean side for two 590s. I'd still think it would boot though, but would probably give issue when the cards have a load on them.

Does that board support quad-sli? It has more than 2 pci-e slots, right? Have you tried the second card in other slots? Latest BIOS on the motherboard?

Edit: Looks like I misunderstood the question. You aren't having trouble getting this to run, you are just asking if it will work? In that case, I'd agree with everyone above.

GTX590's

Hi, I already have two 590's so will not be investing in 670 or 680's. My rig does boot but when I try to run 3D mark vantage & 3D mark 11 both of them fail and graphics keep flashing and going green or purple. i posted on Nvidia and they say I need a minimum of 1100w PSU. They also say that Crosshair V mobo support quad SLI even though officially it only supports 3 way SLI. I will try both cards separately as suggested. In the Nvidia control panel it says that 3 way SLI has been initialised? Failing that I am thinking of going over to Intel but need to save some cash first. Has anyone else tried quad SLI on Crosshair V mobo?

as everyone else has said,
the power supply is the weak link in the chain, now way can it power 2x590's properly at full load like 3d mark etc does,
try just 1 card see if the benchmarks run properly

I'd save your money up for a while, dude.
One 590 is more than enough for all games, so I don't even know why you want to install another - the micro stutter shall surely be appalling.
If you insist on the second card, then it's time to save up for a new PSU!

min reqs for a single 590 is 700watts with a 50 amp on the 12v rail I doubt seriously your 850 silver powers 70amps will handle 2 for benching get a beefier psu and stay single card til ya do.

well saying you can afford two 590's one corsair AX1200 should be an easily enough buy...

why two gtx590's anyway?? If i had that much money to burn then id get 4 580's (or now 4 670's) as it looks so much cooler and there better :S

GTX590's in quad SLI

I have the latest bios(1503) so it must be the PSU? What PSU would you recommend? Thanks for all the replies. Glen

a 300w unbranded psu so it will blow and break all your parts and maybe you wont buy such stupid parts next time? :)

An AX1200 is the only thing you should be considering IMO

Cheers

Hi, Thanks for all the replies. I am very new to this, got the two 590's as I saw Tom's review & video. I am now beginning to realise it may have been a waste of money? Have ordered 1200w PSU as advised just now. Hopefully get it tomorrow so I will let you all know if it does the trick. Thanks again

"1200w psu"

what one?

hopefully it's a corsair or another decent branded make.
the last thing you need is a 1200w psu cobbled together by some back street butcher, that may blow sky high, guaranteeing lots of costly damage

1200w PSU

Hi, i have ordered the Corsair AX1200, that seemed to be the general consensus? Thanks
