Can't decide

I can't decide on what I want?! I am trying to get rid of my 5870 in change for a 6970 or a GTX 570, the reason being is in terms of DX10 performance they are identical and in terms of DX11 performance the 570 and the 6970 destroy the 5870. The reason I can't decide is that they both offer what I am looking for. I don't want to do 5870 Xfire because I do not like having to deal with the problems associated with dual GPUs, minor as they are I just don't, and my system will be quieter and cooler.

Here are some ups:

6970 ups:

AMD brand and will perform a bit better with my 965 and my crosshair formula III mobo. (I know my MOBO is a dinosaur but she has not failed me! and treated me well)

2gb RAM

570 ups:

PhysX (WHICH I LOVE! I don't care how few games use it)

Will perform slightly better in most games than the 6970 due to more Nvidia supported game

Runs cooler than the 6970

1.2gb RAM

So as you can see their are more ups for me on the 570 part but the trade off is that it lacks video memory and the fact it's not a Radeon GPU. They are both priced the same on newegg so price is no issue.

Also the brands I plan on going with for the 570 will be either EVGA or MSI, and for the 6970 will be ASUS or MSI. (If anyone can suggest great overclocking brands for AMD or Nvidia I am all ears)

Go for the GTX 570 because your reasons support it better, unless there's any chance of an issue with your set up but I doubt that

. Most cards atm are reference apart from a palit one I saw so the EVGA and MSI will be reference designs, difference will be warranty and that EVGA have the 90 day step up if you think you'd want to upgrade within 90 days. Otherwise just take the cheap brand unless you have loyalties somewhere, and check forums for the GTX 570 OCing, use the OC3D search page and search forum posts.

http://search.overclock3d.net/ it works really well and you'll get to see many different results for yourself.

Btw the video memory usage for now depends predominantly on your resolution... If you're playing at 1920x1200 then the extra video memory of the radeon would go unnoticed.

Maybe i can help with your decision

I would go for the GTX 570 unless you play in higher resolutions than 1920x1200 and with AA.

The 570 got enough Vram for almost every Game out there. Gta IV uses more and F1 2010 too, they use roughly 1,5gig with max settings.

That doesnt mean you can´t play these games, but you would get better fps with the Radeon.

BUT with the 570 you get the cooler and more quiete card, it does PhysX, which i think is great and so do you.

Also you can Overclock the 570 with ease on a better level than the 6970.

EVGA would be your best choice because of their long warranty. I would go for a custom cooler anyway, because of more OC potential and the lower noise.

I play all my games at 1920x1080 and if I can all the AA and AF all the way up. So it seems like the 570 would be my better choice. THX guys!
