Guys,
Need some advice for Smokie ... he installed my ex-GT yesterday and had everything working fine, however, after trying to connect the USB to his mobo tonight the GT now reaches 45 - 49degrees and does not make it to -50 to allow the PC to boot. It looks like connecting the USB wrongly confused the prom, since after unplugging the prom & PC for 20 mins and then restarting the prom reached -50 BUT since the PSU was not powered the prom shut down again - doh! I have done this many times too, however, after turning on the PSU the prom is back to getting to -45 and not starting the PC
There is plenty of sealstring around the head and the screws judging by what smokie has described so that doesn't appear to have anything to do with it.
Smokie only has this PC so can't post questions on the forum without his PC, so if anyone can make sense of this behaviour or offer any suggestions I will pass them on.
You never know, after a night of being unplugged the prom might just chill down to -50 and get back to normal.
