Hey guys, im completly new to water cooling but ive decided my pc is just too noisey. So the main aim of the setup i want is to quieten down the noise from my pc. heres my current setup

pretty crap case

asus crosshair mobo am2

amd 6000+ duel core

zalman 9700 cpu cooler

dominator ram

8800gs alphadog edition with Accelero S1 Rev. 2 cooler

I guess thats all you guys need to know. If someone could put me a list together of all the stuff i need for a watercooled setup it would be much appreciated. im not really bothered about overclocking and nothing too extravagent please.

Thanks

Well, tbh the only reason people watercool is for overclocking or bragging rights, as you dont want either. Are you sure watercooling is for you?

And the type of case and size is quite important when considering what parts are needed :)

well ive tried air cooling and its just to noisey. its not like ive got a cheap rubbish cooler either.

It's likely your case is the source of most noise, what are the stats on the case fans? Are they 120mm diameter?

Cheers!

well my case is pretty poor and it didnt have any mountings for 120 mm fans so i think they are 90mm one on the front of the case one on the rear. cant remember the type but they werent cheap.

So do you guys recon that i would benefit from a better case? i like the antec 900 cases.

If you want a quiet case, I wouldnt recommend the Antec 900. I have one and as far as cooling goes, for a case its size on air there are only a few that can compete for the price, but it's not that quiet- noise bleeds through the mesh side window, as well as the front mesh, so it might not be what you're looking for.

/edit: also the 900 is a bit cramped for fullscale watercooling, as people who have tried have found. It can be done but it's far from ideal.

As Kerotan said, the Antec 900 is a big no no. A Lian Li would be a pretty decent choice, £70, and get some Yate Loons, for around £3-4 each.
