I doubt a full cover waterblock exists for the hd 7870 XT (Tahiti LE) chips.

only a few manufacturers made the cards and each used a custom PCB, not much of a market for the water block manufacturers.

I currently run two of the VTX3D HD 7870 tahiti cards in crossfire using universal water blocks, universal blocks are the only blocks which fit onto a card which doesn't have a full-cover water block.

Universal water blocks do have their own issues like cooling the remainder of the pcb (vrm's and vram mostly) as only the gpu die is cooled by the water block.

I do not recommend the universal block approach, if you cannot find a full cover block i would change the gpu if i could.

Looking at the Block i am looking at I'm not 100% sure it will fit as all the holes line up but would like to know if any one thinks they know of any that would or the Heatkiller GPU-X³ 79X0 - XFX Edition block will work..

I don't really have the money to replace the card and water cool it.. the card i have is a really good card and cant see any need at this moment to upgrade it as it maxes all my games out.. it just runs supper hot.. i don't really wanna go down the universal block route..

also do you think the krakan g10 worth looking at ?

first off yes its a special card but not specifically for Aria PC lol. Manu's dont make cards specifically for etailers, they may make special ones for game titles or what not but those are normally just different stickers on the cooler or coolers in general.

secondly the 7xxx series has undergone so many pcb revisions it hard for the block manufacturers to make one for every revision. Normally only reference design and popular cards get full cover blocks like the lightning and DCUII type of revisions.

I went this same route when I purchased xfx 7970's I bought full cover blocks that alphacools site said would fit based on part number. But it seems xfx kept the same part number despite changing the pcb, so I ended up with 250$ worth of parts that would not fit my cards. I in the end got lucky and found someone selling 2 reference design cards for a decent price and got the ref design full cover blocks and have been a happy camper since.

Ok lastly all hope is not lost. Look at the Artic accelero line of cooler or even the NZXT line of gpu coolers they may help you. The Artic one despite being air coolers only have a reputation of keeping the card cool and being able to run at 100% fan speed and being quiet as well. Most reports are 100% fan on Artic is the same noise wise as the stock coolers on 30%

Your in the same boat as me with the XFX HD6790 Core Edition (very similar layout to your 7870), I can not for love nor money get a aftermarket cooler for it or a complete water block. The arctic acelero does fit the die mounts but misses the vrms.

You've got the typical XFX "issue" of no fan profiling. check what fan speed your card is running when you next game and you might be surprised.

Thank's For all your input.. I think I'm just going to leave it as i think I'm going to just skip water cooling my rig and bye a new gpu.. really wanna r9 290 or a gtx 780.. and will just put my 7870 in my media center rig. Thanks all merry xmas!
