Some one asked me advice on a build only thing I wasn't sure on was the power supply.

Heres the list
Gladiator Value bundle from aria
Intel Core i5-3570K (not OCing he might ask them to drop to a lower i5)
8GB Mushkin Enhanced Blackline Frostbyte (would add another 8gb to bump it upto 16gb)
GIGABYTE GA-Z77-DS3H Intel Z77 Socket
256gb ssd (owned)
Intel msata 40gb (owned)
antec solo II (owned)
3x Noctua PWN focuse flow (will connect directly to mobo) (owned)
Noctua d14 (owned)
msi 7750 OC
no optical drives or hdds being used!

PSU= Thinking of a decent 400watt
according to the online psu calculator every thing at full load its says he needs a recommended psu of 283w.

This rig is for photo editing and lite movie making...as far as gaming goes very light gaming...plus on a smaller resolution of monitor....he does play mafia 2 thou...his monitor is not 1080p he says its a 1600x900  Not interested in replacing monitor as he has a 1080p TV if he desires hd gaming at a later date.

Thats all the info Iv been giving.

Any suggestions...did look at nvidia cards but the gt 640 seems to be poor compared the 7750...psu as well? any thing you would recomend may it be wattage or brand....100% moduler would be nice but not essential.

There's the i5 3450 quad core processor, which would save your friend around £25. As for the PSU I'd consider one of the smaller BeQuiet ones, but I would opt for a higher watt PSU just to cover any potential overclocking that may be done in the future as well as small upgrades.

What about this for a potential PSU?:

I'm using one in my work rig with a 5770 and a dual-core processor with HT and I've had no issues whatsoever. It is very quiet and is perfectly capable of running a much more powerful system.

For the PSU I'd say 400W to 500W, as brands I can recommend Seasonic, Corsair and be quiet from my own experience. Since he does some video editing I'd much rather go with the 3570k and oc it, especially since he has a decent cpu cooler, than 16GB of ram.

Hes dead set on not overclocking...soemthing hes not really interested in just needs summit with a bit more speed compared to his i3 laptop.
But thanks for the Psu suggestions :)

Completely agree with yassarikhan786 on the bequiet psu. My mate has one, and it runs his PC fine...oddly - he has a 5770 too :)

As for the overclock, if he does get the 3570k, then he may as well go for a small OC.

Considering the chip can make it to 4.2(ish) ghz without even increasing the voltage, it seems ludicrous to me for him not to

if there is no plans AT ALL to oc (and i mean ever) go for one of the lower i5's, BUT and its a big one. If there's even a snifter of a mild oc, go for the 3570 non-k variant, it should hit 4.1Ghz in its stride, before the ratio locking kicks in (x41 i think)
