Hello all,
Im buying some new parts for an upgrade. One of them a motherboard that needs a bios update to support Ivy Bridge.

I do not know which version the guy who had it before me had on it, but assuming its not the version that lets it use Ivy Bridge CPUs, how can I update bios with the 3570k I bought?

I have my old CPU which is an E8500, but can those new motherboards even run those old CPUs? The motherboard is an Intel DP67BG

Can't run 775 CPU on 1555 motherboard. Buy a cheap sandy bridge pentium to flash the BIOS as it looks like the only way on this motherboard
It does not say anything about flashing from usb

Can you not ask the seller the flash it for you before you pick it up/ he sends it?

If not, you're going to need a Sandy chip, any cheap Celeron or Pentium should do (I can see them on the support list on my phone?).

Take the mobo to your local pc shop and ask them to update the bios (just dont take it to somewhere like pc world lol)
Shudent cost more than a fiver for them to update it for you just take the bios you whant on a usb stick with you.

He already sent it, I dont know what version he had on it but I've mailed him asking about it.

If it can be done via USB cant I just do it with Ivy CPU? Assuming it will update automatically during "boot" and that I can boot at all with the CPU.
