When I first built my rig I had an i7 950 cooled with a CM Hyper 212+
The settings I've been using to date are 200x20 to get 4GHz at 1.35V with load line calibration enabled.
That's the extent of my OCing knowledge.
I just finished installing a corsair H70 because the temps were a little, just a little over what I'd like. When I first stressed my CPU at the above settings it would cap out at 87 degrees Celsius, which I know is way over the comfortable 80 and the red light of 85 (at least based on my understanding of the basic guide lines). At the time I figured my CPU would rarely, if never, reach 100% load for any length of time. I was right on that and never saw temps higher than 80. That is until two days ago when first started F@H. Naturally the constant high 80's had my nerves on edge so I bought the previously mentioned H70.
Now that I have it installed my temps peak at 70. So my question is, can I OC further? From what I've read 1.35V is also reaching a sort of soft cap in terms of safety for my hardware.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks guys and gals
