I'm going to upgrade my girlfriends computer and it needs some upgrading it's an old Dell 8250. I would love to get Windows 7 on it but I have no idea if it's even capable of it it's got an old Pentium 4 2.8 GHz cpu, 512mb of RAM but I got ram that i could throw into the computer but that still leaves the question if i can even get windows 7 to run on it and I don't even know if it can run 32-bit or 64-bit.

if it can run windows 95/98/xp, it can run in 32-bit mode.

Windows 7 requirements:
1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86)
1 gigabyte (Gb RAM (32-bit)
16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit)
DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

yeah, it'll run on it, boost the RAM as best as you can or you'll have to minimize
some appz to use on it. any browser is gonna hit that RAM pretty hard.

Yeah windows 7 should run on it, only issue may be drivers. I'd say install it anyway see how it goes and if there are any drivers missing see if you can find them online, or disable the device if not needed.
