Well the games like BF and Homefront DO have dedicated servers and it just makes the whole games much smoother for everyone. You become a customer from buying the game I just don't see why you should have to pay an extra ~£10 for DLC when all it is is a few extra maps(some from past games) so if you do buy the game+DLC then your paying ~£60 just for 1 game.

I'm not complaining about it I just don't see why they are going to have certain bits that are pay monthly, I mean at the end of the day it's just going to be some sort of stat website that tell's you about tournaments and stuff. I mean that haven't released the full details of what you get for paying yet but it just seems like a dumb idea.

I just can't wait for BF3 it looks awesome and I hope it wipes out CoD so Activision realise they can't just keep using the same game and just changing the textures/models =/.

BF and Homefront are also probably one of the least played FPS titles on the console when compared to Halo or CoD. Halo works perfectly fine, it has nothing to do with dedicated servers. Console players didn't even complain about dedicated servers, it was the PC players. If you really want to go into the nitty gritty of a video game and its price, lets have a look at WoW. You have about 4 end game raids per expansion pack. Now, lets say someone has subscribed since release, it's about $1260 AUD ALONE, and with the price of the original game + the expansions, it estimates around $1500 AUD. Boy oh boy, and all I get is measly patches every so often and 4 raids a year (on average since the first xpac). But let me get this straight. You're complaining about paying $100 AUD for a game and then having the OPTION to pay a monthy fee for extra benefits

! Activision must be money leeches to do such a thing, yet somehow, Blizzard are regarded as the most successful and customer appreciative company for PC. For all we know, they could allow you to have access to your own dedicated server, but for a cheaper price. I guess you'd probably flame them for doing that though aswell? You know, charging you a cheaper price then most other companies do so you could have your own clan server? I'd gladly pay a fee to have a moderated and tracked season listing, especially if I was a competitive CoD player. Not to mention it also allows opportunities for people to host invitationals, which help the game grow as an eSport, and actually make it feel more like a community.

On the topic of Activision "using the same game and just changing the textures/models", the only change BF has had, is destructable terrain and a few tweaks to how you choose your class etc. If you're trying to argue the fact it's the same engine, so what? It's a solid engine. I can guarantee you there are plenty of people, maybe even including yourself, on these forums that play L4D, and it uses the same engine as Counter-Strike. Or even better, we got any Mass Effect players in the house? Same engine for all 3 games, guess that means they're just re-using the same shit as well, deeming the game terrible and BioWare a company that also needs to come to the same realisation as Activision

Here's also another thing to take into account. Activision is a publisher, not a developer. You're basically saying EA are saints and have never produced the same game with a few little differences *cough Need for Speed, FIFA, Madden, The Sims, Burnout cough*. I am not trying to say Call of Duty is the greatest thing known to man, nor am I a fanboy. I actually prefer BF over the CoD series, but the arguement that this "protest" is using, is utterly stupid. Get off your high chairs and look at this from a realistic point of view. Don't just flame a company because you didn't enjoy their last product of a series, especially when you don't even know the full details, whether it be for a paid feature, or just the game in general. None of you seem to realise that Battlefield isn't really a competitive eSport, where CoD is. They are two different games, I don't know why this has to be pointed out. If you really just want to throw all FPS into a bucket and what they have to compete against, then every single FPS released for the past 11 years is still up against Counter Strike, the most competitive FPS in the world. I'll give you a hint as to which has had more success in taking the trophy from CS out of BF and CoD... the publisher is Activision.

Whenever I play Homefront on my Xbox theres always either about the same or more people playing it, the dedicated server just make the game much smoother for everyone and if Activision can afford them why don't they get them to make the game much nicer to play. And as for price of WoW then thats a completely different game, Wow has been out for years now and with the subscription price you get to play the game and enjoy any patches and things they bring out, then you can buy the expansion packs to add additional areas, items and stuff to the game.

With this CoD Elite it sounds as if all you get is the DLC and told about tournaments every now and then. As I said before though the full details haven't been released yet but I just don't see why they even thought about making a subscription fee for what seems to be a stat page =/.

Every time DICE release a new BF they always have something new and interesting that makes the overall game more pleasing using the frostbite engine. Like with BFBC2 they used FrostBite 1.5 which they allowed full buildings to tumble and it basically makes the game a lot more realistic. Whereas with CoD they never bring out any new features apart from being able to make an emblem which is about as much us in a game as a wet fart. I'm not saying its a bad engine to use I just think they should try and do more stuff with it to bring people a better experience.

I'm also not saying that EA is a saint I mean the games they bring out each year are very similar but most of they always have some sort of new features to make the game better.

There will be no where near the number of people on Homefront then there is on CoD or Halo. When you take into account the players on CoD4 through to Blops, and Halo 3 through to Reach, you will see Homefront doesn't even come close. With WoW, you can't choose to buy the expansions and expect to get the full experience. You either get them all, or don't bother at all.

It isn't just told about tournaments, they have a complete clan database built in, along with stat tracking and just a general community. That may not appeal to you, because you don't do competitive gaming, but for those that do, they would gladly pay for it. They won't make you pay a subscription for maps.

What do you mean they never bring out any new features? Crumbling buildings isn't a "new feature". It's been in the mix for years, they just optimized their engine and added a .5 to the mix. The FPS genre can't really go anywhere, and crumbling buildings in CoD? Ok, you don't seem to follow what CoD is. CoD is a game that is an eSport, BF isn't (widely anyway). What this means is for one, you're not meant to have crumbling buildings, as it adds too many factors into map balance, and two, you don't try change a working formula too much, because it can make or break the game. CoD works fine as it is.

EA isn't the only company that makes games with new features consistently. Stop kidding yourself.
