Cable sleeving

Well I've been looking at rigs lately and I'm in love with the braiding! I really want to give it a go but I'm stuck on purchasing the cable sizes.

I was just going to buy PSU extenders (kinda to practice on first) like the 24 pin ATX molex, the 4pin 12V and 2x6pin power cables for the GPU.

So... It'd be a huge help if someone could explain the cable braiding and heatshrink to me. I was hoping to braid each individual wire white and blue to go with my case scheme. I've read through the cable braiding walkthrough but it doesn't really go into depth about what sizing to get (or if it does... I can't read

).

Thanks.

its worth taking the time to do some research into the various brands of braid available, some are pretty poor quality and will show the original colour of the wire through gaps in the braiding.

Murder mod do good quality braid but its very, very over priced

Chilled pc has a "dense weave" braid that is also very good and they have a lot of colours, cheap too!

but my favourite is the bitfenix pre braided cabels atm, I'm not sure what material they actually use but it has like a cotton feel to it, rather than a plasticy feel all the other have. only problem is they only sell extensions and not the braid on its own so again a very expensive route.

Yeah I was pricing together on SpecialTech the cables I wanted and it was getting to about £40 and I really didn't want to spend so much money on it... I've bought some cheap-ish cable braid from WCUK and a few ugly unbraided cable extensions (

Hmm, that's not too bad... Haha, well I've already bought the stuff, it's only for having a go really, anything to spruce up the rig.

Nice sleeving clone38! I thought the same when thinking of sleeving, I purchesed extention cables instead of just braiding the entire PSU, so I'm just waiting on them to arrive.

Order dispatched either yesterday or the day before (can't remember, the days all murge into one nowadays..) so hopefully they'll have arrived today.

Need to get a new CPU block as it's one of the old nickel EK ones. Sigh, money money money!

I went with the MDPC-X sleeve and did the PSU myself. Lots of work, but the finished product looks pretty good.

I used white, so it took some extra work to get it perfect, but I'm very pleased with the results.
