Welcome to my 6 step cable management guide.

Requirements:- Antec 1200

Step 1. Get out your trusty Antec 1200

Step 2. Spend several hours/days routing cables and tying them down.

"Hey that looks pretty good!"

Step 3. Step back to observe how all the effort was for nothing.

"Oh.. wait, what?"

"It's ghastly!"

"Hmm it's alright"

Step 6. Step back to see your amazing work.

"Hell yeah" - Apparently you also gain watercooling in the process.

Congrats, your cable management skills have greatly improved

I've owned a few Antec cases, among them the 900. I ended up cutting my own cable management holes in the motherboard tray because the stock cable management was that dreadful. Luckily things have moved on a bit, with nice black interiors and even grommets!!!

I've spent so long trying to tidy my antec up and I just thought I was bad at it.

I then helped my bro tidy up his switch 810 and I was able to hide everything out of sight.

The antec 1200 is like the inverse of the Tardis.

It's a shame really because the Antec build quality is v good, its just let down by them not updating their designs quickly enough and not listening to what the enthusiasts want. With Corsair, Silverstone, Cooler master and even NZXT making fresh and innovative chassis's they better get a move on...

The 810 looks like an over the top, plasticly, tacky pile of shite. The fundamental design on the 1200 was right. It just needed some more holes and grommets.

Haha brilliant. I had an antec 902, it was awful for cable management.

Nah, challenging maybe.

You've done that incredible well Andrew.

The lack of anything in the front drive bays makes it a hell of a lot easier for you though :p

You've done an excellent job there, however that's not what the Antec 1200 comes like, missing drive bays, no rear fans, a pump reservoir covering up the open gash at the bottom etc.

Yeah I got the Thermaltake V3 Unfortunately.. Just beginning to mod it, Ripped out the HDD tray's now I'm going to have to drill some holes for cable management as there is literally none in this damn thing. TBH I love these cheap cases because it simply becomes a project.. And when all is set and done you feel proud of your fine work :)

But... Still really considering the NZXT Switch at this point.. Love the thing to death just wish it came in red with white trim ooooo teh sexxxxxx

Agreed. The Antec 1200 case is terrible for cable management. Spent hours trying to cable everything, but no go :( My rig looks terrible atm, got cables everywhere.

Well.... lol.

Cable management really is like an artform. To get everything routed cleanly and without a lot of zip ties to be re-cut should anything need to be switched out is a bit of a pain, no matter what chassis you own.

I had a antec 900 for my first build, it was a nightmare for cable management even though i shoved most of the cables into the optical & HDD bays so when i upgraded to rampage II extreme, i also upgraded the case.

What happens if my case doesn't support water cooling really, do i still somehow gain water cooling?
Jokes aside, anyone have any tips for cable managing of the corsair 300r?
Mine looks quite messy right now with modular psu...
I bought the case because it was cheap, and since then I've learned a lot about hardware and also what i need for good cable management, first i thought that as long as i can route my cable from the back I'm good off...

E: Nice guide btw ;D

Haha..

In general:
patience, plan it out, braided cables/extensions/black cables improve the look signficantly, try to hide cable openings behind something, tight cables, 8 pin cpu lead through the cpu cut out.

I personally try to use just one molex cable and run all fans, hard-drives (with molex to sata adapters) so I don't have to use my modular SATA cables at all.

Then generally try to take things by their fastest possible route to the hole back.
Not saying you'll want to do this - but - I have a small hole in the side of my optical drive bays where I route pretty much all of my fan cables through - mainly just to utilise that extra space.

Don't use motherboard fan headers or a fan controller, that always helps a lot...

And if you're struggling to get the side panel back on with your cables there, it often helps to put the case on its side and push down on the panel with gravity on your side ;)
