Hey peep's

This is the very first rig I have ever build, and I must say I am becoming a little obsessed
smile.png
this is so much fun

its also becoming apparent how expensive this can be lol.

A little back story:

I have a main laptop and a little netbook and before I started Uni they were more than enough, but now im 2 yrs

into my Computer Science degree and I felt I needed to get something more substantial and here it is

The laptop

was ok for basics, but I am becoming more and more interested in Android programming, and the laptop was

stuggling to run the eclipse IDE with an Android Virtual Machine. It was that bad id pretty much have to click "Open"

then go have a cup of coffee while it did its thing and loaded

Here is what i have inside:

CPU: AMD FX610

RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengence 1600

M/B: Asus M5A97Pro

GPU: HIS Radeon HD6950 2GB

SSD: 64GB Crucial M4

HDD: 320GB Maxtor

Cooler: Noctua NH-D14

Case: CoolerMaster Strom Trooper

PSU: 700w (its a cheapo)

Looking like a really nice build, i would like to see you share a few more pictures here on the forum...nice cabling..

haha yeah accidentally posted it with just the one picture link sorry.

Dont get excited though ill post more pics but compared to alot of builds on

here its very modest

but its a nice start for my first, im really happy with it.

Thanks for the replies and ill post some more pics tommorrow for sure

Im really happy with those cables, they are extensions as the cheap PSU ive got the cables were nowhere near

long enough when i put it all together in the storm trooper, its a pretty big case
smile.png
plus the psu cables were not

braided so they looked terrible lol, in fact in one picture you can see the unbraided psu cables running through

the bottom hole, i made them as neat as possible with cable ties but beyond dropping £100 on a new psu thats

the best i could do.

Next i want to buy a 1000/1250w psu, just so ive got loads of room for the future
smile.png

For those that are interested the prices i paid for the extensions:

24pin power = £9.99

6pin PCIe = £5.33

8pin power = £6.99

You won't ever ever need that many watts in the future

not since it's all getting more and more less power consuming ^^

But the hon.. I mean, the rig looks tasty ;-)

The Rig Looks good but i have to say i don't like going for a cheapo psu and have regretted it in the past

Yeah it blew up on me about 2-3 weeks after putting it all together haha, i was running prime at the time, and watching youtube

and it went BANG!! was very worried it had killed my Mobo or something else but it was all ok.

My girlfriend got me the Corsair TX650v2 for a replacement. She's the best
