Introduction:

I've been looking at pc cases for ages to my new rig, but i've found nothing i like.

Since i didn't find annything, i desided to make my own.

Inspiration:

My main inspiration for the build is the 650D from Corsair, and the R3 from Fractal Design.

I allso got som inspiration from the TUF series from ASUS.

The hardware:

-i7 3820

-Sabertooth x79

-16GB vengeance LP ram

-Crucial M4 256GB

-AX 750

-Gainward 680 4gb Phantom

The Watercooling:

(will do majur changes here if i deside to mode instead)

-Koolance block for the GPU

-Koolance block for the MoBo

-Koolance 370 for the CPU

-Black Ice GTX gen2 extreme 480

-Black Ice GT stealt 360 Xflow

-Moded Swiftech pump

-Bitspower fittings

-Koolance black tubing

-Bitspower tank

-Corsair Link

-Noctua fans for the whole system: NF-F12 for the rads and NF-S12B for the case.

I've been looking for ages after a case thats looks clean and is good for watercooling, so i desided to build my own.

I'm making the case virtual first, and when i get enogh sparetime/money i'll make the case.

this is what i've made so far.

I'm currently wondering if i should put a front door on it or not.

tell me what you think

the collour that i will use on the case is black, but if i make i black on the moddel it imposible to se se annyting

4x 480 rads on the side panel would be something unique and epic if you can afford that - seen as you're going custom anyway

I was thinking of rad on the side, but I'm afraid it will los the clean look,

I've also added a front door to the case now, and i will think more what i like the most

I relly dont think i can afford more than one quad rad, and wtf do i need more than 1 for? I'm only going to cool an 3930k and 1or2 680, and maby MoBo(sabertooth x79). A quad rad is overkill for that to.

Wouldn't be any more frustrating to cram in than front panel connectors - just don't expect to change out hardware en mass in a hurry.

> If you're WCing though, you will have to take apart your loop periodically for various reasons anyway

> If you're going custom, you can work around just about anything

4 is for massive dual and quad Xeon rigs which can be housed in a custom case, for 1x 480 though the top or bottom or bottom-side would be a good placement.

Bottom would look cleanest

small update from the inside:

click for large.

Gonna be tight for a triple rad in place of the dual but I think you're right to use a dual - the third fan wouldn't have enough breathing space to be effective unless you put it pushing towards the power supply, rather than sucking in warm air from the power supply and keep the lowest card clear of it. Looks good

Just finished the visual part, going to work on the tecknical drawing now, but no visual changes will be made, other than the colour.

After advice from helge about dimentions .

http://langhelg.net/ (take a look at his web page, a loot of cool projects, the page is in norwegian so google translate is a friend to all of you who dont speek norwegian)

I have desided that the case will be made in 0,8mm aluminium plates, and the frame will be made out of 5mm square aluminium tubing.

The fans that will be put in the case is Noctua NF-F12 PWM at the top, at the bottom, and in the front. at the back, and at the floor in the middle i will use Noctua NF-S12B FLX, i will not use push pull on the rad, only pull. the reason why F12's in the bottom is that im thinking of adding an ekstra rad in the bot, droped due to space issue, fans at bot will be S12B's, or i will change to a 360 rad. just for estetics of the loop, an the ability to run the fans on even lower speed,

The rads i will use i most likely Black Ice GTX Gen Two Xtreme 480.

Not shure wether to use a bay ress or a ress tube ish ress mounted inside the case, what do you guys think?

The dimentions on the case will be 700mm x 600mm x 257mm

If annyone would like the sketchup file, just send me a PM, and i can mail it to you

The HW i will use is:

MoBo: Asus Sabertooth x79 with koolance waterblock

Ram: Corsair Vengeance grey and gold, 8*4gb (32gb)

CPU: Intel 3930k with koolance waterblock(dont know witch yet)

SSD's: 2x Corsair Performance Pro

GPU: eVGA 680 with koolance waterblock

PSU: eighter Corsair AX850, with preesleeved cable form corsair, or Enermax Platimax 1000w, using sleeved extantions.

HDD: 2x old 40gb hdd in raid1 (for cad files, rest will be stored on NAS)

And, if annyone having a good name for the project, just scream it out, cause i dont have anny ide about a name

The sketch looks good. Where are you ordering those aluminum plates from? directly from Mosjøen?

Are you planing to welding the metal or just bend/drill holes and use rivets?

Better name and seen as it's all black > Stallion
nahh, I liked "The Gentelman" bether

That thing is huge :-P Looking good but a bit clean for my liking.

Looking forward to the endproduct
YUP it's going to be enourmus, the plan is to build a case thats going to last long. I allso just love clean looks, with not much light and stuff. I might put som white LED-strips in the case, just to get to show of the inside, and to not make it to "screaming" lights, im thinking of using tinted acrylick on the window.

Not shure where to buy the aluminium, going to check prises. Don't want it to be more expensive than it have to be

I've just started looking on how to make the case, as i said in previos post i got som advice from this guy, (I worked 4 weeks with him, in the regi of school)

But how i porblaby is going to sort is to make the top, back and front as one pice, and use rivets to bolt it to the frame, and allso bolt the bottom on.

I allso might be able to weld the frame. If i dont get to weld the frame in aluminium, im going to create the frame in Iron, cause i know i can get it welded.

I'm not shure how to sort out the front, and side- doors yet. anny sugestions?
