depends on application. for gaming, no.. for other tactile functions, yes.
photoshop, vid renders, database, and work output.

when i use my 2133 RAM as a RAMDisk, it is functionally faster then 1600 RAM.
appz load quicker, storage on the RAMDrive works quicker. i'm at 1.5Gb/sec vs
a SSD at 500Mb/sec (thats 3-times faster in speed). but you cant mount an
OS on a RAMDrive due to the volitile nature of input power. but everything else
can be installed on a RAMDrive.

it might also be worth looking at the MSI Z77A-GD65 mobo as the mpower only has 2 sata 6g/bs ports where the gd65 has 4

You wouldn't want to put such a nice Motherboard in such a case. I would at least get a Corsair C70 or a Corsair 500r.

That's not a reason to buy the GD65 over the MPower. The GD65 has 2 extra sata slots, but they're not from the chipset, but they're connected to a marvell controller. So they aren't as fast as the normal SATA 6gb/s ports. And I don't see why he should need more than 2 6gb/s ports. The MPower is quite a bit better IMHO. Plus it looks incredibly sexy.

You don't think Case COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Advanced RC-932-KKN5-GP is a good decision for an Mpower MOBO? I want the i7 to be water cooled, and it has tons of room.. also got lots of great reviews.

tbh, the 932 is kinda been done till tuesday... we all like to see some adventure
in case selection. the C70 new to market last quarter. that'd be a great project.
it's themed like the MPower, narly air flow, lots of fan locations, upgrade/moddable,
has window (might need some changing), but if its a dream to have own a HAF 932
then by all means, but like i said, we like adventure and new ideas in rigs.

I'm not stuck on the 932,just seemed like a good case from reviews. After viewing the c70 it seems basic but lots of options to choose from, such as duel water cooling. I noticed some other cases as well... I'm more then likely going to be doing triple GPUS in the later future, and need a case that can handle it all.

any ATX case will accept your idea of tri SLI/X-Fire.. so you are not held back in that
sense.. all have 7+ pci slots. dunna know if a triple GPU link is necessary with the
modern tech. other than overkill or braggin'.. on other forums peeps using dual
690s. totally unnecessary..

vid rendering/editing support is only for single card, some can use dual, but the triple
didnt offer a lot of performance gain using 580's . i cut render down 12sec using
three versus two.. and all the subpart glitches.. stay on dual and use late model
technology.

but if that is the route planned, monkeying around with retail cases is futile. only
consideration is the CaseLabs cases. the Merlin is a smallish case that can house
whatever your pocketbook can hold.

I've been planning a build for some weeks now and its a major reason why I joined the OC3D forums. After reading too many posts to count Ive pretty much decided on my parts which are essentially the same parts you've been asking about.

MSI Z77A-GD65 Because of the extra sata ports, can keep throwing in more storage)
Samsung 830 SSD (120x2 or 256)havent decided exactly just yet.
32GB G.skill (at least 1866Mhz (to play games from a ram drive)
Corsair AX760i (more sata connectors than my thermaltake)
Corsair H100i
Corsair C70 mid-tower case

After looking at the prices of retailers in my area I decided I will most likely order the case, cooler, and psu directly from Corsair. After totalling up the cheapest prices of shops within driving distance I can order directly from Corsair, and even though I'll have to spend $40 on shipping, it will still be more than $60 cheaper than buying locally.

The mobo, cpu, and ram will be installed by Christmas with the rest coming after the New Year/early Febuary. New gpu to follow those.

HD: Samsung 830 250gb SSD + any 2tb hdd
PROC: i7 3770k
MOBO: MSI Z77 Mpower
PSU: Corsair AX850
CASE: Corsair vengeance c70
Memory: KHX24C11K4/16X
Water Cooling: Corsair H100i

I don't care about the extra sata drive, 3770k has very good benchmarks, my ram will only be 16gb even then that's over kill. The memory was off MSI website, i rather be safe then sorry. With the amount of air cooling that case has, i only really need 1 water cooling for CPU.. just take out the middle hdd rack for maximum airflow.
I'm debating on getting these MSI Z77 MPOWER Optimized DDR3 2400 8GB Kit because I just seen them online...

One thing I like about the G.Skill website is they list the mainboards supported by each ram module. It's easier for the ram manufacturers to test each motherboard than for the mobo manufacturers to test each ram module. This helped me greatly in eliminating modules from potential purchase. I had a good inkling of which ram I wanted and which mainboard I wanted and made it much simpler to get a combination that was compatible.

Once you get this puppy put together nobody will be able to slap the smile off your face for a week The Samsung 830 SSD rocks :rock:

It has the mobo and processor i'm looking for.... My question is would it be worth buying rosewill or cheaper components such as the PSU,RAM,SSD, etc.. or will it be a noticeable difference in performance, and I should stick to the high quality components?

Yep and PSU is one thing you dont want to skimp on. Cheapies tend to fail and when they do they take expensive bits out with them.

If you add up the prices of the parts in that prebuilt system youll find they total alot less than the cost of the rig. It's not uncommon for pc builders to make $250 for the 20 minutes work of putting it together. Thats why they do it. They love to take advantage of people who dont know how to use a screwdriver.

for the 7970 probably the msi lightning and for the 7990 i would say the powercooler version. At least these are my opinions and what i would get if i had the money
