build me an intel bench rig

ok i have decided to have some fun with new intel setup

i only need the m/b, cpu, ram, m/b would have to be pci-e for single card 3D benching

the m/b would have to be able to OC well and have vmods available

the cpu will be going under phase,ln2

dont want to spend any more then 800 GBP

this rig is only for benching no games will be played on it just 3d an super pi

Well needless to say I think a 670 is the CPU of choice for this one, after what Thickys did with no volt mods (just remember the atmosphere in the room when that thing booted @ 6Ghz on first boot no probs).

As for the rest of it, best to ask Thicky cos he knows Intel better than most I'd say.

Hmm i dunno, i'd have thought a dothan 780 (eats up a large amount of the budget though)

Its whats tearing up most of the top 10's and with LN2 should see sub 20s on Superpi 1mb

Then a P4GD1 mobo for the pci-e aspect with some BH5 and your a rocking

hang on another 2 weeks and get a 65nm presler, an asus p5wd2-e premium 975x chipset and your ddr2 of choice and youl be laughing

I think i'd wait for 975 boards and 9xx's to hit the shelves or else a top of the line dothan now.Dothans are great benching chips,just wouldn't want one as my main rig.

been so busy this week just had time to have a read on the presler

this chip is crossfire enabled? so would be best with ati gfx

so this is the only m/b available
