Budget-eer

I definitly need a digital vacuum gauge, clearly one of the pipes wasnt tightened enough and vac seem's to have failed? Dunno, defintily uncompressables in the system. So re-leak testing with 250psi in co2, then re-vacuuming.

That's a shame mate, was hoping for some frosty pix tonight :(

Get us some updates as soon as you can. Did you get a bad braze somewhere?

Actually I think its probably no leaks at all, I don't get bad brazes ;)

More likely maybe I didnt have one of the fittings on the gauges all the way down so it got air sucked in through it. A digital vacuum gauge would solve my problems.

Ya I think I found the leak, bad seal on one connection. Later today I'll check on the re-leak testing and re-begin the triple evac. The only thing I'm worried about is the possiblity of the capillary rattling inside the flex line. We'll see if thats a problem or not though.

Let us know how you get on, hopefully you've nailed the leak and that you don't have any probs with the cap tube rattling.

Yeah just next time around with the DetroitAC/NoL evap I'm putting the capillary into the outside cap if I can get a good 3/8" drill bit for copper.

Update NEW JERSEY HAS SNOW!

The unit had no problems, it was operating at below-condensing point pressures for r22. Rather funny but I had to add ALOT more gas and now its working insanely. Pretty decently quiet as well.

You asked for Frostys frag, you got em. This is around a minute after units been on, no insulation yet so I even had snow coming off the flex line!

NUM NUM NUM!! :yumyum:

Anyone care for a scoop of frostie freeze?? Nice work NoL, taken any temps yet? Ya gonna get her insulated tonight?

I dont think Ill get to insulate her tonight sadly, back to my fathers for the night, but tomorrow afternoon i'll pre-load test, insulate, and begin the fun ;)

10 minutes maybe more when I talked to Ham. I turned off the fan, then turned off the unit to remove ice extra quick and it just disapears. Maybe 2 seconds and the flex lines warm and such. This compressors got ALOT of quick. I think we may see some insane temps if I dont have to rip the capillary down and revac then repressure test and such ;)

Hahaha I came back down to the workshop before I left, unit off it was dry from residue of compressor heat, except the evap. Still caked in ice ;)
