Broken power supply, need a new one.

Hi guys, so today my computer randomly turned off and upon inspection the light on the AX760i was red. I disconnected everything and used the self test button and it remained red.

As the psu was won as part of the Custom Corsair competition and I did not purchase it I am not covered by a warranty. So I am going to have to buy a new one. I really do not have any money at the moment having just made some major purchases so I am going to have to go cheap.

I know about the Corsair CX series but I am wondering if you guys could recommend to me some other cheap yet good quality ones.

Cheers

how many watts do you need? does it need to be modular, what connectors at a minimum?

I'd try messaging Tom/Corsair first tbh.
Even if you aren't covered by warranty, it doesn't look good for Corsair if something like this happened, so knowing them, they'd try to help you.

Anything above a 500w will be fine, Modular would normally be a must but due to cost restraints I really dont care, just the normal connectors, 24 pin, 8 pin and a few 6 pins.

I wouldn't really like to bother Tom, I understand he is a very busy man and I wouldn't want to give him any extra hassle. I have emailed Corsair direct although I wouldn't expect them to do anything so that is why I have created the thread.

and as i work in maplin i got one of our own brand and used is for over 6 months and had no issue with that, on the 760 and we do one for £35 (560W) that had a few of each its non mod, as i said its cos ive used one not cos of were i work cos trust me im as honest as posible when it comes to what we sell

Definitely wouldn't be trusting a maplin non-branded one tbh...

Look at Silverstone Striders, Enermax, Corsair, Seasonic, BeQuiet maybe?

You know the drill surely Seumas! Shouldn't need us to recommend you a power supply, you already know all the reliable manufacturers ;)

Ok, so I sent an RMA appeal and it was approved, I then emailed them just to make sure they knew there was no receipt or anything, they were fine with it so it looks like I won't be needing to buy a new one. Corsiar are now my favorite company :D
