Boot issue

Right this is a bit complicated to explain so ill try my best:

I got an old pc just so I could muck about with it and stuff, it had an old 20GB HDD in it with Windows ME installed, I put an 80GB HDD into the pc instead of the 20GB but it wouldnt boot the windows disk so i put the 20 back in leaving the 80 in also, booted up Windows ME and installed it onto the 80 through that way, now XP is installed on the 80 I took the 20 out but it won't boot it just sits at "Verifying DMI Pool Data" mid boot.

It does boot onto Windows XP if I stick the 20 back in tho which is very confusing!

Basicly:

The 80GB HDD with windows on it won't boot unless i have the 20GB HDD in the system aswell

WTF? lol

Please help

Is there a problem keeping the 20GB HDD in there?

The DMI pool data is in the 20GB Hard Drive.

Well that's what I think from the way I thought it out.

Now do a quick google search and find out about it.

I had a look and tried everything that they reccomended but nothing worked, is there anyway i could transfer it over?

With the 20gb drive out and only the 80gb in will it boot to the windows disk so that you can reformat and reinstall windows onto the 80gb?

What about clearning the cmos/bios once the 20gb drive it out?

I kinda got it sorted, it now wont boot without the windows disk haha, all I do is need to press enter tho to boot it without the disk

no biggy

old computers, pffft!
