Bodybuilding/Powerlifting

I think Arnold himself started the myth lol.
See "I think", I have never read Arnold say that anywhere, I have numerous books from back in the day and have never read him say that anywhere. Been doing this for 25 years and have seen and read plenty about it. thats like picking up your local bodybuilding magazine and reading an article by whoever is popular at the time, saying this his how I got my build, when in reality, its a writer who rights the article and they just pay the athlete to use their pictures. they recycle the stories about every 3 years just change the pictures with whoever is popular.

now I will have to go and pull my copy out and have a look. I know Arnold has always been a big believer of free weights over machines and cables for adding strength and size, and for also bringing stabilizer muscles into play more so than cables.

It should be in there somewhere dude, better had be or I'll look like a fool haha. I'm not sure which part it's in. I only really remember the parts of ectomorph and all that, the exercises, and the posing part at the back. I think it might be within the first chapters were it's just bodybuilding in general.

Benched 4x3 @ 105kg, 1x2 @ 125kg with sling shot and 1x3 @125kg with elbow wraps. I needed assistance for all three attempts with the elbow wraps but I was able to finish the lift once I got passed the sticking point.

My bench last night was 75kg olympic, it's starting to feel heavy now. I reckon I can get to 80 but then comes the struggle.

My best is 105kg on smith and I think 80 for olympic.

Last week was a rest week, my brain and my body needed a break and one day wouldnt cut it. So this week I feel as fresh as a duckling (does that even make sense?), anyway, by the end of the week I want to have every major muscle group sore as it'll ever be, chest, traps and upper back are already sore and pumped. Today is gonna be some leg work :)

Also hit a pb with 100kg bench and 5 reps in a single session, up from the 2 reps from a month before.

I know its a double post, don't bash me for it, I just had a (imo) brilliant idea.

How do you guys feel about setting up weekly challenges? maybe some pb's in different exercises, ex. week 1 being an increase of 5% weight in an individuals max squat weight, or a set number of crunches that's not too easy nor impossible (something like 500 in a 20 minute window). I think it gives us something to look forward to, not always the same routines week after week.

If the response is good we'll open a separate thread and not spam this one, whats your thought on this?

ps. this is not strict, yes you can lie about doing them or not doing them, but what will you gain? exactly nothing! If you did them you would actually gain something :)

It's hard with training because I try to improve every workout, each exercise I do heavier than the last so long as I got at least 6 reps the week before. It's also hard on saying I'll go for 8 reps because I train to what works best for me which is only usually 6 reps, it's only shoulders I do 8, which fortunately I'm pretty tuned in to know what works best, exercises, sets, reps, what to train first, what to do last etc.

Routines shouldn't be the same every week either, do different exercises at least every few weeks, a different grip, mix it up and you get stronger and don't get bored.

I usually mix days/routines/excercises, it was just an idea :)

I'm up for something between us on OC3D but I don't know what. :(

Edit: Maybe something diet? Like a log, all my chicken eating has gained me some size, mainly the shoulders, chest and arms but I'm up for learning more. Mainly tasty meals, not the boring 1tbsp of cottage cheese and a handful of nuts lol. Thats dependent on if anyone cooks here though haha.

Apparently no one is up for this, I cook my own food, my parents cant be bothered to cook for me, its always pasta, pizza or fried shit which I don't eat. My main food is canned tuna with salad, mainly cause its healthy easy and fast to do. Then there's eggs, potatoes and chicken, I practically live of those :P

Anyway just came here to share something with you guys, I've been taking fat burners (biotech usa thermo drine pro) and theyve worked wonders, I would be lying if I said otherwise, minimal changes to my diet, almost no change in weight (actually gained 1kg) and look way more lean than before taking them. Now I've decided to stop them after 6 weeks, I still have about 3 weeks worth of pills left. I've been getting massive headaches, constantly tired and sleepy, I'm trying to fight off the symptoms with more sleep and coffee and it seems to be getting somewhere but it feels it was worth sharing for you guys that been thinking about taking fat burners about these side effects. If I take them, I function normally, I'm thinking it could be the high amount of caffeine in them....

If you need assistance to lift the weight then please for the love of god stop, Lower the weight, Lift until you get stronger and then increase the weight slowly.

I see this from the gym rats in work all the time and the amount of injuries I see happen almost on a daily basis and no matter how many times I tell these "Bros/braz" they never listen and still end up looking like shit after 2 years of lifting.

You are not ready to lift that amount if you need help, Simple as.

In the long run you'll be stronger for it, Not trying to sound like a douche bag I just want to help, It's kinda my job, <--- PT ^_^

The point of elbow wraps is to overload the weight, simple you're getting the chest used to being under that weight. You're not there to build strength, that comes from your raw work. Unlike the slingshot which protects the chest, elbow wraps do not.

When I was working in the gym and PT'ing I was given some tablets that were fat shredders, I never tried them though since I had no knowledge, there was no box/instructions and it was Russian or something on the foil. My boss gave the guy a bollocking for bringing them to the gym (they weren't legal) and he warned me off them, I thought I binned them until recently I found them, quickly binned them this time.

Yes, high amounts of caffeine followed by none will definitely cause headaches.
