Tom you might need more Glutamine in your diet, I started taking Glutamine along with my post workout shake and before I go to bed, Helps tremendously with DOMS.
Maybe try upping your protein intake aswell even if it's just by a small amount, 20 grams or so.

Im dialed with both mate, my training partner is a full on gym bunny with an insane diet etc and even he suffers.
 
I love having DOMs, lets me know I've worked out hard enough. My hamstrings and glutes will most likely bother me tomorrow after todays deadlifts though. :(

If youre fine on the 2nd day youre a pussy and didnt go heavy enough!
Either that, or you need to mix things up. :p

yesterday I did calf raises w/ 35kg for 50 reps and today i can barely walk, the burn was intense as hell. i'm still not sure how i'll cope with 4 flights of stairs tomorrow for my maths a-level.

ps. i also did 20kg lunges x 20 reps and squats 50kg x 10 reps and 70kg x 5 reps

You've got to remember Tom's getting a little old in the tooth - it's only a matter of time before his body gives out on him ;) :lol:

Agreed. Not to sound like a meathead but if you ain't sore, you didn't do enough. If I'm not sore th day after a workout, I know I need to up the intensity and/or change things up some.

You get to like working out your legs a lot after a while given the amount of weight you can move with them.

i love working my legs, favourite workout i think! i went stupidly hardcore today! :D

anyone got advice on muscle building supplements?

Id reccomend PHD Synergy, if you are just starting out, contains everything you need, once youve been doing it for a few months and you work out how your body works, we can suggest other supplements to help

I've tried them all, and strawberry tastes the best, with chocolate orange at a close second!

One thing with shakes and stuff try and ignore the taste I know it's easier said than done but something you have to bare

ok i will give the strawberry a go thanks fella, aslong as it dont taste like utter arse i dont mind haha :lol:
 
I used to use the Optimum Nutrition Whey. I'm using Kinetica now. It's slightly cheaper and I figured it'd be better to be adding to Irish GDP as opposed to American GDP (Kinetica is produced here). :p

To be honest though, supplements of any type aren't *really* necessary. (In fairness Whey is more of a meal than supplement) You can get all you're going to need from the right foods. Although they are convienent. As an illustration of that, two scoops of Whey a day saves me consuming another Steak/Chicken Fillet/Can of Tuna.

well i have ordered 2kg of phd synergy i have used a few different whey shakes before an not noticed any difference, but as i am just getting back into training i thought i may give it a pop again
 
I did a total of 50 squats in the gym this morning. I'm going to have serious trouble walking for rest of the week. :D
 
Well I'm actually taking a week off the gym next week. Going to mix things up a little after that, still haven't decided on a routine though.

And I can't imagine I'll be able to get up sitting cross-legged. :p
 
need some advice guys

for the last 3 weeks i haven't progressed much in terms of pushing volume

my deit has been pretty good, odd bit of cake and pringles, nothing to punch me in the dick about but i cant work out why i cant go harder!
