Bitfenix Prodigy Build - Best card?

What is the best _2 slot_ card I could put in my bitfenix prodigy? My budget is up to around £300.

I've tried searching around google but people seem to argue about the 660ti and the 7870*.

Anyone could help me out that would be great.

EDIT: 7870 not 7970. Needs to be a 2 slot card.

Oh right ok thanks. I heard the ASUS DirectCU II was the quietest with mostely the best cooling?

One of the best - avoid the Top cards though.

What resolution are you playing at?

A 7970 is probably overkill at 1920x1080 as a 7950 will max pretty much every game's framerates out anyway.

Like I said, I can only use a 2 slot card because I'm using a miniATX MB so I'm trying to find the best 2 slot card. No 3 slot cards. And at 1680x1080.

3 slot cards? There's barely any 3 slot cards around.

I meant avoid the Asus DCII Top if that's what you meant.

And if that's your resolution, then there's very little point in getting much more than a 7870.
Maybe if you have the budget look into something like a 660ti or 670 but it's really not needed.

Look to upgrade your screen at some point.

Planning on getting a better screen but I play on 120Hz and bigger monitors are expensive. For now just focusing funds on my build.

I think I'll get a 660 Ti. Which ones best for loudness, cooling and clocks?

Unless a 7870 is better? Just had bad experience with drivers for my old 5770.

Reference nvidia cards are a lot better than AMD ones.

For after market coolers, look for KFA2/Galaxy, Asus DCII, Gigabyte Windforce.

Although look at the prices of some of those, it's only another £20 in some cases for the 670 equivalent, so have a look around.

As for drivers, I've had issues with AMD in the past, and nowadays prefer nvidia - but the AMD 7XXX series are great cards, and very well priced compared to nvidia, so I wouldn't completely throw them out of the picture.

Look at 7950s - if you can find one for a good price, then I'd consider it over a 660ti or 670 tbh.

Thanks for all your help. Again the problem with 7950's is it takes up 3 sockets as it is a 3Gb chip and this case only accepts 2Gb cards.

I think I'll save some money and get a 660 TI, the ASUS DCII is meant to be the quiestest so I think I'll go with that.

Thanks again.

Memory capacity has nothing to do with the size of the cooler. Most gpus these days are 2 slot whether they be 1, 2, 3, 4, 6gb that is irrelevant. You should have no oroblens finding a 2 slot card

I have 2 time 7970 in my hands right now, and they a 2 slots card. So do not know where you have got the idear of 3 slot card from ..
