Bit concerned now.

After recently ordering a new pc (at the moment i have neither the skill, time, patience or nerve to build my own lol) I have been informed that whilst it's a decent setup it won't run the pc flagship game (crysis) very well at all and can only expect around 20-25fps!

Now i thought that you neded 40fps for an enjoyable gaming experience.

If anyoe has a similar setup could you please let me know what i'm looking at here

thanks

Mike

Unless you're running a 28"+ screen and intend on running Crysis with VHigh detail and AF, that system will play Crysis smoothly.

Well i was hoping i'd be able to play it with plenty of eye candy :(

I'm running a 22" syncmaster at 1680x1050

I'm hoping a 620w psu is gonna be ok as it's what i was reccomended

That should run Crysis @ 1680x1050 fine. Maybe oc the CPU thats it.

But 620w PSU for a quad and 4870X2, not sure there. At least its a good make.

U say you bought the PC....... from a shop, e-sale, mate built it...

620 does seem a little low but if the rig has not crashed out, aka, run out of power then it may be enough.

Though if you intended to run an OC on your CPU and GPU's i think you would need more head room.

Crysis is a hog. I ran a E6600 @ 3.4 with two BFG 8800 GTX's in SLI and was able to play on V High, no AA etc till ICE starts to appear.

The game can look smooth in the 20's FPS. Remember that triple SLI'd GTX 280's can only run the game at an average of 60 FPS. With that sort of hardware you can run COD4 at near 200 FPS.

Even the skulltrail rigs i have played on still stutter with Crysis. Dont expect a perfect playing experience with that game on MAX till at best the next gen of hardware.

thanks for the replys, it's scan thats building it for me, and it's what they recommended.

I have rang them and left a message and i'm awaiting a call back

cheers guys

The HX 620w should do the trick, but you may want to consider dropping an extra £20 or so on the PSU to get an 800w. This way if you do any more upgrades in the future, you wont have to worry about how close to tripping out the HX you are.

I dont think that has 4 PCI-e connectors required to fuel 2 4870's, my Coolermaster 700w only has 2, perhaps something in the 750w range? Make sure 4 PCI-e connectors though. I should save some cash and just get the Q9450, knocks a fair few quid off that can get you a better PSU.

He's getting the 4870x2 dude, not 4870 x2...all very confusing I must admit :p

ah yeah, get 2 4870's! Looks cooler... :D But the HX has enough juice then, I thought it was 2 of the 4870s, I think the X2 requires less power so a 620w might do the trick, I personally would play it safe and get a larger PSU, that is just me though, I have been in a situation where you have too small a PSU for the job at hand, its a pain

You can spend thousands on computer hardware but please lets not get depressed that it cannot run Crysis at max.

Nothing can run it at this point in time.. hardware isn't fast enough also to run DX10 you have to be on the worst OS created. :)

It is a pretty pants game anywhoo. ;)

Au contraire.

Vista is brilliant, I love everything about it.

But lets not start an off-topic debate, that was just my two cents. :D

Mine has no problems running Crysis at very high, 1920*1200, 8xQ AA, kicking out 30+ fps, but occasionally stutters for about 2-3 seconds upon entering new, enemy/explosion heavy areas...then off it goes.

Similarly I quite like Vista, but it does seem to eat your resources like some sort of computerised hoover. Its no DOS tho :D

I think the psu will be fine.

I ran crysis on my rig at 1280x1024 0AA on high with only 3 settings on medium (textures, shadows and water). Ran smooth for me.

Crysis is a good game whilst it lasted but its way too short :(
