BIOS corruption

Hello, I´ve got P8P67 PRO motherboard and after programs installation I decided to make a system bit copy backup and I created a bootable CD in program I used. Then I (ofcourse :-) tried to restore my data to see, if everything works properly. However...

When I used bootable CD and tried to restore data from a disc-bit-copy file, my system was unstable. After that, when I started PC, it sometimes restarted automatically few times. So I start to worry, if any virus corrupted my BIOS :-(

Please, would you tell me, if I have to worry about BIOS virus corruption or if there is no such thing like that.

And if there is a possibility of BIOS infection, if there is any antivirus for BIOS or how to solve such kind of problem...?

Thank you very much!

It will be a problem with your back up or Windows, if it was your BIOS you wouldn't be able to boot. Something must have gone wrong when you used the back up disk a Windows got messed up, if you can get into windows go

Control Panel > System and Security > Back Up and Restore > Restore System Settings on Your Computer

Click open system Restore > click next and choose a restore point of a date/time before you used your back up. If that does not fix it you may need to reinstall Windows.

If you ever update your BIOS use the Asus AI Suite II which comes on the DVD that came with the motherboard, when you load it go

Update > Asus Update > Update BIOS from Internet > Tick the box that says automatically back up current BIOS (that way if anything does go wrong you have a back up) > then click next.

Thank you for your reply :-) Well, Windows work properly and I have reinstalled everything. Booting seems to be ok now too. However I am a bit unsure, if there isn´t any virus in BIOS. Do you think, that BIOS updating would get rid of possible viruses? Or do you think, that even reseting BIOS on ASUS P8-P67 PRO motherboard would be enough? Respectively - does reseting of BIOS get rod of possible viruses?

I highly doubt it's a BIOS virus mate in fact i'd put money on it not being, if you are having problems with the BIOS though, updating or resetting it should fix any problems.
