Bettering an AMD Sempron Mobile 2800+ 1.6ghz

Happen to have a laptop stripped down. During the strip I`ve taken the cpu out of the zif.

It`s an AMD Sempron mobile 2800+ 1.6ghz SMN2800BIX3AY.

Checked the usual suspects for an addition to this, with no luck, anything above 3000 would be nice. Found a regular desktop cpu around 3200+, with the jacket still on it for ~£25. Unfortunately the hs isn`t gonna allow for this unless I lapped it, which I`m not prepared to do.

It`s not faulty, so I`m not gonna be upset if I can`t find anything.

Of course, u guys are pretty resourcefull UK only please.

Why dont you just remove the IHS on the 3200+?

Not done that b4 tbh.. is it a big job or a carefull job ?

I know the mobile socket says 754 on it, but it looks smaller than a desktop one to me.. I dunno.

Socket 754 is a desktop A64 socket also used by Turion 64's afaik. Taking off the IHS doesn't take long but it takes care
